Special Events Safety Tips

Motorists and Pedestrians

  • Plan ahead.
  • Stay alert and remain cautious.
  • Lookout for each other.
  • Use pedestrian crossings. 
  • Obey the signs.

March 27: Charlotte Knights Open Day Fan Fest 

The event begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m. 

Closures begin at 4 p.m. and include Mint Street between 3rd Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Streets will reopen at 8 p.m.  

Event organizers expect 2,000 participants.

March 28: Craft Half Marathon and 5 Miler 

The event begins at 8 a.m. at Brixham Hill Park. Participants will travel down Brixham Hill Avenue, Ballantyne Corporate Place, Upper Avenue, North Community House Road, Lower Avenue, and the McAlpine Creek Greenways. Participants will return on the McAlpine Creek Greenways and conclude at Brixham Hill Park.   

Event organizers expect approximately 1,100 attendees.

March 28: Corvian Cardinal 5K 

The event begins at 9 a.m. at the Corvian Community High School. Participants will travel to Johnston Oehler Road, Jimmy Oehler Road, and will return on the same route to Corvian Community High School. 

Event organizers expect approximately 400 attendees.

March 30 – April 20: Charlotte SHOUT!  

Street closure for this event will be from March 30 at 6 a.m. to April 20 at 8 p.m. Below are the locations of the streets that will be closures during the span of this event.  

  • Levine Ave of the Arts between Tryon Street and Church Street 

  • 8th Street between Brevard Street and the Light Rail Tracks 

Event organizers expect approximately 10,000 attendees over the course of the event.

April 11: Sarcoma Stomp  

The event begins at 8 a.m. on Mammoth Oaks Drive. Participants will travel down Lakeview Drive, Creola Road, Providence Road, Jefferson Drive, Lansing Drive, Jefferson Drive, Preston Lane, Mammoth Oaks Drive, Creola Road, and conclude on Lakeview Drive.      

Event organizers expect 900 participants.

April 11: Five Points 5K 

The event begins at 8 a.m. on Grandin Road. The participants will travel down Grandin Road, Wesley Heights Greenway, Stewart Creek Greenway, and conclude on Grandin Road.

April 17: Charlotte Racefest 1 Mile Run 

The event begins at 7 p.m. at Symphony Park. Participants will travel down Barclay Downs Drive, loop around Carnegie Boulevard, and conclude at Symphony Park.

April 18: Charlotte Racefest Half Marathon & 10K  

 

The event begins at 7:30 a.m. at Symphony Park on Barclay Downs Drive. Participants will travel along Barclay Downs Drive toward Runnymede Lane, Sharon Road, and Providence Road. The race route will take runners through Olde Providence North, Governor’s Square, and Foxcroft before concluding at Symphony Park. The event includes both a half marathon and a 10K route.

Event organizers expect approximately 2,000 participants.

April 24: Twilight 5K Walk/Run 

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at First Ward Park. Participants will travel along 7th Street, Kings Drive, Sam Ryburn Walk, Park Drive, Torrence Street, Bartow Court, Travis Avenue, Park Drive, 7th Street and conclude at First Ward Park.    

Event organizers expect 850 participants.

April 25: 2026 Elizabeth 8K / Fun Run 

The event begins at 8 a.m. at Bartow Court and Torrence Street. Participants will travel along various roads through the Elizabeth, Chantilly, and Rosemont neighborhoods.  

Event organizers expect 950 participants.

April 25: Walk MS: Charlotte 

The event begins at 8:30 a.m. at Rizzo Park. Participants will travel to Brixham Hill Avenue, Ballantyne Corporate Place, and through the parking lots of the Ballantyne Corporate Center.     

Event organizers expect 1,300 participants.

April 26: Girls on the Run Spring 5K 

The event begins at 9 a.m. at Arco Corporate Drive. Participants will travel through the Whitehall Corporate Center, Whitehall Park Drive, and return to Arco Corporate Drive. 

Event organizers expect 1,500 participants.
