Our streets are our responsibility. Vision Zero is a data-driven approach to traffic safety that focuses public dollars on areas that statistically create the most public benefit. This initiative seeks to improve public safety and end traffic fatalities through education, enforcement and engineering projects like crosswalks, bike lanes and better street lighting. Remember: Weather and unforeseen circumstances occasionally prevent closures from occurring as scheduled and make it unsafe to close and/or reopen lanes or streets when planned. When this occurs, The City works directly with appropriate stakeholders to resolve any concerns as quickly as possible and reduce impacts on the traveling public.

Pedestrians walking near event areas should be alert, and cautious and allow extra traveling time. It is advised they cross at signalized intersections, use pedestrian walk signals where available, and abide by detour signage.

Motorists traveling through event areas should be alert and extra cautious. Drivers should proactively obey all signage and constantly be on the lookout for others traveling through event areas.

November 9: Veterans Day Parade

The event begins at 11 a.m. on N. Tryon Street at 9th Street. The parade will travel down N. Tryon Street to Brooklynn Village Avenue.

November 16: Novant Health Charlotte Marathon 

The Novant Health Marathon and Half Marathon will begin on S Tryon Street at 7:30 a.m. After beginning in Uptown, the route sends participants through Eastover, Myers Park, Dilworth, South End, Wilmore, Greenway, Noda, Plaza Midwood, and back to the finish in Uptown. November 16: Light the Night

The event begins at 4:30 p.m. at American Legion Memorial Stadium. Participants will begin on Sam Ryburn Walk and travel the sidewalks of Charlottetowne Avenue, Sam Ryburn Walk, Little Sugar Creek Greenway, and end inside Memorial Stadium.

November 23: St. Nektarios Taking Steps 5K

The event begins at 8 a.m. on Kuykendall Road. Participants will travel along Lancelot Drive, High Ridge Road, Houston Branch Road, Brook Hollow Road, Valentine Lane, Meadow Haven Lane, Rhett Butler Place, Beaucatcher Lane, Grey Moss Road, High Ridge Road, Nancy Creek Road, Goshen Lane, Lancelot Drive, and ending on Kuykendall Road.  

Event organizers expect 250 participants.

November 23: Charlotte Jingle Bell Run 

The event begins at 9 a.m. on Mint Street, sending participants down 4th Street, Walnut Avenue, West 2nd Street, Grandin Road, Morehead Street, Summit Avenue, Greenway, Cedar Street, 4th Street, and returning to Mint Street.  

Event organizers expect 300 participants.

November 24:  Panthers v. Chiefs FanFest 

Event Hours are 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  

The following streets will close on November 23 beginning at 6 p.m. and will reopen at 6 p.m. on November 24. 

• Mint Street between Morehead Street and First Street 

• Graham Street between Mint Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard 

• Brooklyn Village Avenue from Mint Street and Church Street 

Event organizers expect 2,500 people. 

November 26:  Bank of America Stadium Holiday Tree Lighting

Event Hours are 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  

Street closures will begin at 9 a.m. on November 26 and streets will reopen at 9:30 p.m.

November 27: Novant Health Thanksgiving Eve Parade 

Parade steps off at 6 p.m. on N Tryon Street at 9th Street. Parade Route will continue on N Tryon Street and end at Brooklynn Village Avenue.  

Closures: 

11/25: Tryon Street closes at 6 p.m. between Brooklynn Village and Good Samaritan Way. 

11/26: Tryon Street closes at 10 p.m. between 9th Street and 11th Street as well as the cross streets between College Street and Church Street from 9th Street to 11th Street. 

11/27: Tryon Street closes at 5 p.m. between 9th Street and Morehead Street as well as the cross streets.

November 28: Charlotte Turkey Trot 

The event begins at 8 a.m. on Morrison Boulevard. Participants will then travel along Barclay Downs Boulevard, Runnymede Lane, Selwyn Avenue, Colony Road, Sharon Road, Ferncliffe Road, Richardson Drive, Colony Road, Roxborough Road, Rexford Road, Coca Cola Plaza, Morrison Boulevard, and ending at South Park Mall.

November 28: 2024 University City Turkey Trot 

The event begins at 8 a.m. on Prosperity Church Road near Mallard Creek Road. Participants will go down Prosperity Church Road to Propsperity Ridge Road, turn around and return to the start location.
