Playscape Replacement
Austin Parks and Recreation has begun gathering information working towards replacement of the existing playscape just south of the pool. The department will set up community meetings once a timeline for the project has been determined.
Shoal Creek Dam Modernization
Austin Watershed Protection Department continues to work on the design for the dam improvements and anticipates submitting for permit review in early 2026. More information on this project can be found at Creek Flooding | AustinTexas.gov
Park Pond
The water level at the Beverly S. Sheffield Northwest District Park Duck Pond has dropped over the summer after a long-standing underground leak near the pool was repaired, which had been an unrecognized source of water for the pond. Austin Parks and Recreation is taking short-term steps to protect trees and wildlife including watering trees within the boundaries of the constraints of water conservation code. For the long term, APR is collaborating with Austin Watershed Protection to evaluate sustainable, long-term solutions for the pond. More information will be shared with the community once more work has been done to study the options.
