Attend Menlo Park’s upcoming City Council meeting Tuesday, Aug. 26. The meeting will begin with a closed session at 5:30 p.m. The public meeting will begin at 6 p.m.

| Share your feedback on Parkline Project and join the Aug. 25 Planning Commission meeting

The Parkline Master Plan Project, scheduled for the Aug. 25 Planning Commission meeting, has been modified by the applicant to limit non-residential square footage to 1 million square feet instead of the approximately 1.38 million square feet studied in the Environmental Impact Report (EIR), which is a net reduction of approximately 380,000 square feet from existing conditions. Community members are encouraged to review the Final EIR, released on July 7, and participate in the Aug. 25 Planning Commission meeting. Read more...

| City Council to review draft RFP for potential development on downtown parking lots – Aug. 26

Join the Aug. 26 City Council meeting to provide feedback and/or listen as City Council reviews a draft request for proposals (RFP) for the development of at least 345 affordable housing units across any combination of three downtown parking lots, and may include other uses, such as market-rate residential units, ground-floor retail or commercial space and public open space. This is the next step in advancing the development of the downtown parking lots. This initiative stems from the City's 2023-2031 Housing Element, which identified the downtown parking lots as potential sites to help meet Menlo Park's regional housing needs allocation. | El Camino Real Crossing Improvement Project construction begins Aug. 25

The City will begin construction of the El Camino Real Crossing Improvement project this week, which is scheduled to last from Aug. 25–Oct. 31. The project will install intersection upgrades at El Camino Real and Ravenswood/Menlo Avenues to promote pedestrian safety and improve connectivity to Menlo Park’s Caltrain Station and downtown corridor. The Project is also consistent with the Vision Zero Action Plan which affirms the City’s goal to eliminate all traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2040. Read more...

| MPPD partners with Atherton PD for back-to-school safety campaign

The Menlo Park Police Department is proud to partner with the Atherton Police Department in a joint effort to keep our streets safe for everyone. Together, our Traffic Enforcement Divisions are rolling out a targeted Education and Enforcement Campaign on Wednesday, Aug. 27, focused on back-to-school safety. Read more...

| Solar panel installation at the Arrillaga Gymnastics Center to start Aug. 27

With support from Peninsula Clean Energy, the City of Menlo Park will install solar photovoltaic panels on the Arrillaga Family Gymnastics Center (501 Laurel St.). Construction is set to begin Aug. 27, and will take approximately six weeks, without affecting building hours of operation. This work is part of the City’s Climate Action Plan goal to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions from City operations. Read more...

| Submit artwork for a library card art exhibition Sept. 1–Oct. 31

Bring us along on your library adventure! The City of Menlo Park is refreshing our library cards and inviting community members of all ages to submit original artwork inspired by the theme “My Library Adventure in Menlo Park.” Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of staff and stakeholders, and select designs will be printed on new library cards and made available to the public. Any artist whose work is selected for printing will be notified prior to printing. Submit your design between Sept. 1–Oct. 31 for the opportunity to be displayed in the gallery Nov. 18–Jan. 15, 2026. | Electronic waste collection event returns Sept. 6

RethinkWaste and Recology San Mateo County are teaming up with the City of Menlo Park to encourage residents to properly recycle old electronics at the Electronic Waste Collection Event Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at the City Corporation Yard (333 Burgess Drive). Residents should place their electronic waste in their trunks and remove other personal items to avoid any accidents. This drive-through event allows residents to remain in their vehicles as the vendor picks up the electronic waste from the trunks. Read more...

| Apply for the Community Emergency Response Team Academy starting Sept. 11

The Menlo Park Fire District has opened registrations for its September 2025 Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Academy. This free program provides community members hands-on training in basic disaster preparedness, fire extinguisher usage, disaster medical care, first aid training, search and rescue techniques as well as neighborhood team building. The next Academy will take place over six sessions from Sept. 11 through Oct. 11. Participants must be 18 years of age or older.
