Mobility Matters peers into the future of transportation with look at Mobility 2050

Already the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the nation, with a population of 8.6 million, Dallas Fort Worth is projected to add another 4 million residents by 2050. To accommodate this growth, the region will need to continue to invest in its multimodal transportation system. In June, the Regional Transportation Council approved Mobility 2050, the region's next long-range transportation plan, which outlines a $217 billion blueprint for the region's roads, rails, trails and more over the next 25 years. Read about this Metropolitan Transportation Plan and much more in the latest issue of Mobility Matters.

Driver awareness key to freight safety

NCTCOG is conducting a campaign through August to highlight the importance of freight safety by encouraging safe mobility practices and interactions between passenger vehicles and large trucks. In addition, the campaign encourages safe practices near at-grade crossings throughout the NCTCOG region. The 2025 Freight Safety Campaign uses educational tools to encourage drivers and pedestrians to think more about freight safety on the roadways and at rail crossings. Safety tips are presented through a variety of mediums, including social media, podcasts, radio, billboards and a children's activity book. Learn more by reading the campaign's fact sheet.
