Temporary Closure Planned for N.C. 101 in Carteret County

BEAUFORT – The N.C. Department of Transportation will close a section of N.C. 101 in Carteret County beginning next week.

Starting Sept. 14, crews will close N.C. 101 from the intersection with Live Oak Street to just south of West Beaufort Road to install sanitary sewer line and storm drain.

Traffic should detour via U.S. 70 East and Live Oak Street. There will be no through traffic on Campen Road or Carraway Drive.

In mid-November, NCDOT will also close the intersection of N.C. 101 and Live Oak Street to begin the final phase of construction, building the roundabout.

N.C. 101, Live Oak Street and the roundabout are expected to open in late May 2027.
