The City of Austin wants to share the latest update on the William Cannon Drive corridor improvement project, which can also be found at AustinTexas.gov/WilliamCannon.
Upcoming Work
Starting Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2026, crews will shift an eastbound lane on William Cannon Drive east of Running Water from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. This temporary lane change is needed while crews install a new gate valve and fire hydrant. Waterline work will continue through the week of Jan. 12, 2026.
What to Expect
- Drivers should plan for extra travel time and use caution in the work zone.
- Work is scheduled during daytime hours to reduce rush hour impacts.
Why This Matters
Installing the new valve and hydrant will improve water system reliability and enhance fire protection for the community.
