Coming October 10th - Report Power Outages by Text Message
𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗸... 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘
Beginning October 10th, Town of Apex electric utility customers can report power outages via text message. Simply text "OUT" to (919) 372-7475. This new way to report is the result of feedback received during the 2019 and 2022 Electric Customer Survey - you asked, we listened!
All electric utility customers will be auto-enrolled in the service using the text-enabled phone number listed on their utility account. Need to check and possibly correct your contact info? Make any changes at www.apexnc.org/customercontact (you'll need your account number handy).

Yard Waste Tips During Peak Leaf Season
During this time of year, Apex hits peak leaf season, and our yard waste collection crews work hard to balance the increased workload. We do our best to stay on schedule, running as early and as late as safety allows.
Here are a few ways you can help ensure efficient collection:
- Kick it to the curb. Do not place yard waste in bags or your trash cart. Rake to the curb, where our vacuum trucks will collect.
- Separate your piles. Keep large sticks and branches separate from smaller yard waste, as this could damage the vacuum and delay collection.
- Only rain down the drain. Keep yard waste out of our sewer system by placing 10 feet or more away from storm drains
- Rocks and mulch not collected. Our trucks cannot collect dirt, mulch, or rocks. These items damage our trucks and can lead to “dusting” streets while collecting.

Behind the Scenes at the EOC
During a severe weather event like a hurricane or ice storm, the town activates an Emergency Operations Center (EOC), where staff across many town departments assemble to share information and coordinate response to impacts of the weather event.
The team gathered during as Hurricane Ian approached, using the time to train new employees and refine the process for those who have served in the EOC during past events.

Nature Park Tennis Courts to Close October 10th
The Apex Nature Park tennis courts will be closed for resurfacing starting on October 10th. The courts are expected to be closed for about 3 weeks, weather dependent, while this work is completed. Pickleball courts will still be available during this project.
Stay updated with any park construction projects on their webpage.
Election Season & Political Signs
In Apex, elections for municipal, state, and national elected leaders are conducted by the Wake County Board of Elections (BOE). The BOE manages voter registration, polling assignments, election day activities, and more.
Apex Town Council elections are held in odd years. This year, Apex voters will be electing Wake County Commissioners, School Board members, NC Senators and Representatives, and other elected positions. View your sample ballot.
Rules and regulations regarding the placement of campaign signs can be found on Wake County’s website. Placement of signs is allowed along certain sections of roadway. However, campaign signs are not allowed on property owned by the Town of Apex, or in the right of way along town property. This includes parks, water tower locations, public safety stations, etc. Check this map to view locations of town property.
The Town may remove signs on public property and in Town rights-of-way where prohibited. When signs are removed, they are placed in the dumpster enclosure beside Apex Town Hall.
