It has been a great couple of weeks! We had the opportunity of touring Towne Twin Village, San Antonio’s first single-site permanent supportive housing development in our District. The Housing First Coalition will soon open 205 housing units for seniors 50+ who have long histories of homelessness. We are extremely proud that our community is leading the way in creating a place of safety and dignity to address homelessness with housing-first principles.
We are excited to share that City Council voted to approve a contract for $2,534,387 to begin the construction of the Berkely V. & Vincent M. Dawson Park. This park will feature two skate parks, a park pavilion, and wide open spaces so families can enjoy the view of the Hays Street Bridge. This was another pivotal step in the journey to realize the vision of community leaders, organizers, and historians to create a free, public park near the Hays Street Bridge. We look forward to the beautiful space this will become and the public space it provides to both Eastside families and San Antonians from across the city.
Our field office at Claude W. Black will be closed starting April 24 through May 2. The Claude W. Black Center will be used as a voting site for the 2023 elections. Our field office at Rittiman will remain in operation from 10am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
As always, it is an honor and privilege to serve you.
