Event Highlight: Holiday Tour of Lights

Have you heard about the Apex Holiday Tour of Lights? 32 homes and businesses across town have volunteered to spread holiday cheer with beautiful light displays this year! The Tour of Lights provides two Route maps (A and B) with the most efficient way to see all of the stops along the way. Hop in the car, turn on your favorite holiday playlist, and enjoy the lights!

Make the most of your drive with these tips:

Grab some hot chocolate, coffee, or eggnog to sip

Pick up food from a local restaurant along the route or bring dinner for the ride

Pack plenty of snacks because... Snacks.

Create a fun Scavenger Hunt or BINGO game for everyone in your car to play

Print out the Holiday Tour of Lights Map and rank your favorite displays

Listen to holiday music and have a family sing-along

Decorate your car with lights to join the festive fun

Dress up in fun holiday clothes or comfy pajamas

Use the Tour to reconnect with the people in your car or spend the time relaxing and unplugged

Finish the drive with a sweet treat from a local store

The Apex Holiday Tour of Lights runs December 3rd - 31st from 6-9 pm every night. Learn more and view our printable and digital maps at www.apexnc.org/holiday

Holiday Recycling Tips

In the hurry of the holidays, we rush to get decorations up, gifts wrapped and ordered, and items checked off our lists. But we all can take a moment to remember that while many household items may be labeled as recyclable, our sorting facility may not accept certain items.

Don't be a 'wishful recycler'! Use our holiday recycling guide, and search the Waste Wizard to learn more about other materials.

How to Recycle Christmas Trees

Turn your Christmas tree into mulch for Wake County park trails! Drop off your undecorated holiday trees at designated locations from December 26th through January 22. Note that all facilities will be closed for New Year's Day on Sunday, January 1st.

Closest drop off points in Apex are the Wake County Convenience Site (6120 Old Smithfield Road), and Harris Lake Park (2112 County Park Drive, New Hill).

2022 Ornament Now Available

For the past five years, we've partnered with local artist Lew Wilson Art to design limited edition ornaments - all celebrating a landmark, event, or location in town.

This year's ornament commemorates the first ever Town-hosted fireworks event - Fireworks Frenzy! On July 3, 2022, thousands watched the display from Hunter Street Park and around Apex to celebrate Independence Day. The image featured on the ornament was captured during the display.

The ornament is available for pick up at The Depot (220 N. Salem Street).

Place your order at www.apexnc.org/ornament

Unity Mural is Complete

There's a new work of art in downtown Apex! Named "The Community Laughing Garden" by mural artist Loren Pease, this project was developed in collaboration with high school students, the Apex Police Department, Town Council and staff representatives, and the Apex Public Art Committee. The idea for this project came from a group of students that approached the town about creating a mural in support of the social justice movement.

The mural is located beside the Apex Police Department at 205 Saunders Street.
