Join the Menlo Park City Council meeting Oct. 21

Attend Menlo Park's upcoming City Council meeting Tuesday, Oct. 21. The meeting will begin with a closed session at 5:30 p.m. The public meeting will begin at 6 p.m. 

See the meeting's agenda item highlights below: 

  • I1. Consider applicants and make an appointment to fill one unexpired vacancy on the Library Commission.

  • K1. Introduce and waive the first reading of an ordinance repealing and replacing Title 12 [Buildings and Construction] of the Menlo Park Municipal Code by adopting by reference the 2025 California Building Standards Code (Title 24, California Code of Regulations Parts 1, 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12), together with local amendments to parts 2, 2.5, 5, 6, and 11.

  • K2. Consider and adopt a resolution to approve proposed revisions to the Below Market Rate Housing Program Guidelines.

This is a hybrid meeting and members of the public can listen to the meeting and participate in person at City Council Chambers (751 Laurel St.), by telephone at 669-900-6833, via Zoom or stream live.

Path closure along San Francisquito Creek/Santa Cruz Avenue

The path along San Francisquito Creek/Santa Cruz Avenue between Junipero Serra Blvd. and Sand Hill Road, was closed on Friday, Oct. 17, due to uneven pavement conditions caused by erosion. All users should avoid using the path and use alternate routes instead. Bicyclists should use bike lanes on Alpine Road, Junipero Serra Blvd. and Sand Hill Road. Ready to boost your biking confidence or learn basic repairs? Sign up for a free class hosted by the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition and make your rides safer and smoother! Commute.org and Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition are hosting free bicycle education classes. Learn how to ride safely and confidently through sessions like Introduction to E-Bikes, Smart Cycling and Bike Commuting. XL bike lockers at Caltrain Menlo Park

Bike lockers

Caltrain recently added XL bike lockers at the Menlo Park Caltrain Station, making it easier to securely store larger bikes, such as cargo or e-bikes. Two types of lockers are now available in standard (pie-shaped) and XL (rectangular). To access either type, download the BikeLink app. Standard lockers cost 5 cents per hour, while XL lockers cost 8 cents per hour. Read more...

National Teen Driver Safety Week

Oct. 19–25 is National Teen Driver Safety Week and the Menlo Park Police Department is providing tools to ensure teens stay safe on the road. Talk with your teens about safe driving habits this week. Traffic collisions are the leading cause of death for teens ages 15–18. In 2023, 2,611 people were killed in crashes involving teen drivers, and 53% of teen drivers who died were not wearing seatbelts. Read more...

600 Block

The initial, high-level design concept is available for a public plaza in the closed portion of Santa Cruz Avenue between Curtis Street and Doyle Street in the eastbound direction (“the 600 block”). The design allows multiple uses, enhances safety, creates a welcoming environment with aesthetic appeal and activates the space. Share your feedback on the design elements and how you would like to use the space by visiting us in person at upcoming events Oct. 22 and 23 or filling out the online form by Oct. 26. Participants in the survey can choose to enter a raffle to win one of eight $25 gift cards to local businesses! Read more...

Submit artwork for a library card art exhibition by Oct. 31

Library Card

Bring us along on your library adventure! The City of Menlo Park is refreshing our library cards and inviting community members of all ages to submit original artwork inspired by the theme “My Library Adventure in Menlo Park.” Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of staff and stakeholders, and select designs will be printed on new library cards and made available to the public. Any artist whose work is selected for printing will be notified prior to printing. Submit your design by Oct. 31 for the opportunity to be displayed in the gallery Nov. 18, 2025–Jan. 15, 2026. Read more...

The Statewide Special Election will take place Nov. 4. Locations for ballot drop-off in the City of Menlo Park are at the Belle Haven Child Development Center (410 Ivy Drive, outside, walk-up), the Boys & Girls Club (401 Pierce Road, outside, walk-up) and City Hall (701 Laurel St., outside, walk-up).
