Navigators Selected for Expanded Displacement Prevention Navigator Program
We are excited to announce that Navigators have been recruited and hired by City partner El Buen Samaritano for the newly . The initiative will serve residents in Dove Springs (78744), Montopolis (78741), Colony Park (78724), and eligible households located within 1 mile of the Project Connect corridors. The program now includes a larger service area of cost-burdened households at risk of displacement or housing instability. The Navigators will continue their work through March 2027.
El Buen Samaritano will host six Community Resource Fairs. Join the Displacement Prevention Navigators on September 26, 2026 from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Montopolis Recreation Center, 1200 Montopolis Dr, Austin, TX 78741; there will be a chance to enter a drawing for H-E-B gift cards as well as refreshments for attendees. Each fair will highlight displacement prevention resources, help determine program eligibility, connect individuals with navigators and partners serving the host community, and help with access to other community services that promote housing stability. Apply by October 1: AHFC opens $1M Home Repair funding opportunity for nonprofits
The Austin Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) announces the upcoming availability of $1,191,824 in funding for the Architectural Barrier Removal Program and currently seeks proposals from experienced non-profit organizations to provide repairs that modifies or retrofits the living quarters of eligible, low-income elderly and disabled homeowners.
October 1, 2026- Sealed applications relating to this NOFA are due prior to 3:00 p.m., October 1, 2026. Applications are accepted by email only. Late submissions will not be accepted. Questions must be emailed no later than ten (10) working days before the NOFA submittal due date.

New Seabrook Square II Community Expands Supportive Housing and Healthcare Access in East Austin
We celebrated the opening of Seabrook Square II, a new 60-unit, fully furnished permanent supportive housing (PSH) community located in District 1 at 2210 Pershing Drive. The community offers high-quality housing paired with rental vouchers and voluntary, wraparound services for people experiencing homelessness. Seabrook Square II was developed by Capital A Housing and will be owned and operated by Integral Care.
The property includes 24-hour on-site support staff, care coordination and case management services, food assistance resources, community gathering spaces and computer access, onsite laundry facilities, and outdoor green space with a dog walk. Additionally, a clinic that provides primary care and mental health services, including support for substance use disorder, is one mile away. Residents will begin moving into Seabrook Square II in early September. Upon arrival, they will receive Welcome Home Kits assembled by Integral Care staff and handwritten messages of encouragement from community members.

Next door, Seabrook Square I opened in July 2026. The site, developed, owned, and operated by The NHP Foundation, Capital A Housing, and AHFC, includes 5-story and 4-story elevator-serviced buildings offering a diversity of affordable housing options. All 204 units are affordable for households earning 30% to 60% median family income (MFI) and include 10 live-work-residence studios dedicated to East Austin artists.

The goal of Civic Fest is to bring people together for food, music, and community while helping residents better understand how civic participation connects to the services and opportunities available to them. In addition to family-friendly activities, the event will feature two panel discussions on small business resources and connected communities (exploring the intersection of housing, mobility, and infrastructure), as well as a brief, interactive presentation on the importance of civic participation.

Tenant Protections in City-funded Projects
Housing Development Assistance Lease Addendum Updates
Austin Housing and the Austin Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) are , a standardized lease addendum that provides tenant protections beyond those typically afforded under state law. This addendum is required for properties that use certain forms of City-supported affordable housing funding or incentives, including the Rental Housing Development Assistance (RHDA) gap financing program, and requires owners to address hazardous health conditions (including, but not limited to, mold in indoor areas) in a timely manner.

East Austin Historic Survey Underway - Share Your Stories
The City of Austin is identifying potential historic properties in Central East Austin with an update to a 2016 historic resource survey. Longtime East Austin residents, newer residents and other community members are invited to share stories about people, groups, buildings and neighborhoods in the area between now and spring 2027.
