Special Events Safety Tips

Motorists and Pedestrians

  • Plan ahead.
  • Stay alert and remain cautious.
  • Lookout for each other.
  • Use pedestrian crossings. 
  • Obey the signs.

January 10: Panthers Bud Light Backyard 

The event begins at 1:30 p.m. and will end at 4:30 p.m. on January 10. 

Closures begin on January 9 at 12 p.m. and will end on January 10 at 11 p.m. Closures will include Mint Street between Morehead Street and 1st Street, Brooklyn Village Avenue between Church Street and Mint Street, and Graham Street between Mint Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. 

Event organizers expect 50,000 participants.

January 17: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Parade  

The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. on N. Tryon Street at 9th Street. 

  • 5 a.m.: N. Tryon Steet between 9th Street and 13th Street, as well as the cross streets, will close. 

  • 8 a.m. - 9 a.m.: N. Tryon Street from 9th Street to 3rd Street, as well as the cross streets, will close. 

Event Organizers expect 1,000 participants.
