Little Walnut Creek Flood Risk Reduction Project

The City of Austin’s Capital Delivery Services, in partnership with the Watershed Protection Department, has completed Phase 4 of the Little Walnut Creek Flood Risk Reduction Project. The project is now moving Southbound on Mearns Meadow Boulevard, past Quail Valley Boulevard, and will end near Robinwood Circle.
Traffic Pattern Impact

Paving Work Schedule
Paving work is expected to begin on Monday, November 24, weather permitting, and will occur from Phase 4 to Phase 1. Traffic will be open to vehicles; flaggers and cones will be present to manage traffic. Inclement weather will push the start of paving work to December 1. No site work will take place on Thanksgiving or the day after.
Substantial completion is expected around the end of 2025. Smaller tasks such as site cleanup and revegetation (replanting) will commence throughout early 2026.
Completed Tasks:
- Installed 54” diameter storm pipe from Stubble Quail Drive to Robinwood Circle on Mearns Meadow Boulevard
- Installed wastewater lines, manholes, and services from Stubble Quail Drive to Robinwood Circle on Mearns Meadow Boulevard
- Set storm curb inlets, replaced concrete curb and gutter and concrete sidewalk on Mearns Meadow Boulevard
Ongoing tasks:
- Replacing concrete curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk, and driveways on Mearns Meadow Boulevard
- Restoring areas behind curb at street Right-of-Way along Mearns Meadow Boulevard
- Road reconstruction, paving asphalt, setting manholes to street grade on Mearns Meadow Boulevard
Reminders:
- The construction site is for authorized personnel only
- Full Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) must be worn by anyone in the construction area
- City of Austin permitted construction hours are:
- Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
- Saturday, 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Note: work will be taking place every Saturday this month.
- Note: Monday – Friday: People and trucks arrive around 6:30 a.m. to start at 7 a.m.
Some trades may work 12-hour days but daylight hours only.
