Howdy neighbors,
Happy November! This month is full of celebrations as we honor Native American Heritage, and Military Veterans, and their families.
Yesterday, City Council passed the updated Unified Development Code (UDC) to chapter 35 of the Local Government Code. This process happens about every five years, and it establishes rules, policies and procedures for land development. These include zoning, platting, subdivisions, landscape regulations, street construction and storm water rules. Updates to the UDC are intended to streamline the development process. This year, 191 amendments were thoroughly vetted over the past year and were ultimately recommended for approval by City Council. Please keep in mind that the newly adopted codes take effect January 1, 2023. There were two amendments that gained the most attention from neighborhoods. The first is regarding Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) which allows a homeowner to build a second unit like a mother-in-law suite on their property. (see below)
The second amendment was regarding Community Organizations. The amendment allows for the creation of community organizations to opt-in for notifications of the rezoning process within their boundaries. This does not take away the authority of any existing neighborhood association or HOA, it’s merely an added transparency and engagement tool. (see below)
We're inviting all of our neighbors to join us at our annual Native American Heritage Month event, Saturday, November 5, 2022, 10 AM - 2 PM, at the Julia Yates Semmes Library & Comanche Lookout Park, located at 15060 Judson Road! There will be singing, dancing, storytelling, a Native feast, crafts, and games. All are welcome to honor Native Peoples and their history!
Daylight Savings Time ends this Sunday, November 6. Don't forget to "fall back" one hour before going to bed Saturday night!
November 8th is Election Day, folks! If you haven't already done so, get out there and vote! Find out where you can vote, here! A sample ballot can be found here as well. Go exercise your right to vote!
Please mark your calendars for the next District 10 Community Meeting set for Monday, November 21, at 7 PM at the Tool Yard (Northeast Service Center) located at 10303 Tool Yard.
Save the date! With the holidays just around the corner, we're proud to announce our District 10 Holiday Barge ride, Tuesday, December 6th, 2022! We will have more details on how to sign up in the coming weeks. We hope y'all can attend!
Do you have ideas for District 10? If so, the District 10 Team would like to attend your next HOA meeting, or if you'd like to sign up for our Roadshow, we'd be happy to help set that up with you.
Please email District10@sanantonio.gov with the date, time, and point of contact to schedule our attendance at your next HOA meeting. I look forward to hearing from you!
As always, thank you for being active community members and leaders here in District 10. Please do not hesitate to contact our office if we may be of any assistance to you. The District 10 team is on hand and available to address your needs and concerns.

|
|
The City Attorney’s Office (CAO) coordinates the Dangerous Assessment Response Team (DART). DART actively targets and works to abate the “worst of the worst” nuisance properties within the City. Its mission is to reclaim, restore, and revitalize neighborhoods plagued by properties that are a safety threat due to a documented history of habitual criminal or code violations of at least two years. These properties may be single residences or commercial properties.

CPS Energy customers will receive a credit from the City of San Antonio in December. High natural gas prices and increased usage during the second hottest summer on record resulted in higher-than-expected revenue to the City. City Council approved returning $50 million back to CPS Energy customers as part of the adoption of the City's Fiscal Year 2023 budget. $42.5 million will be credited to active CPS Energy electric customers based on their July 2022 electric usage. The remaining $7.5 million is designated to help low-income customers through the Residential Energy Assistance Partnership (REAP) and weatherization of homes.
