Tip of the week: Find information about City government

The City of Menlo Park is committed to government transparency. The City of Menlo Park website contains a wealth of information to help residents stay informed and participate in their local government. Here’s a tip: the City maintains an Open Government webpage with links to quickly find information often sought by residents. In designing the webpage, the City utilized a checklist provided by Ballotpedia (formerly Sunshine Review), a nonprofit organization dedicated to government transparency. Still can’t find the information you’re looking for? Contact us.

Library book survey – we want to hear from you

The City of Menlo Park wants your input for a library book survey. Our goal is to provide a library that reflects the interests and needs of the community. Your responses to the survey will help to inform the selection of books and media in the library. In addition, the City and its partners are building a new multi-service center in the Belle Haven neighborhood that will include a new branch library, public gymnasium, senior center, school-age child care and aquatics center. We are especially interested in hearing from residents of the Belle Haven and Bayfront neighborhoods about library books and media in the new multi-service center. Please take a few minutes to fill out the survey online in English or Spanish, or pick up a paper copy at the library and return it to us by mail or by hand to Belle Haven Branch Library, 413 Ivy Dr. or to Menlo Park Library, 800 Alma St.

Willow Oaks Park improvements

The City has begun construction work on improvements to Willow Oaks Park, starting with pedestrian/bike path updates to improve connectivity for the surrounding neighborhood. Park visitors will notice temporary construction fencing and construction work as the project work progresses. The project is designed to preserve and upgrade park infrastructure, enhance the park experience for park visitors, and respond to the needs of neighborhood residents. The project is being done in phases, and will include playground renovations, dog park enhancements, a new restroom building, basketball court resurfacing, and other upgrades. The park improvements were designed and developed with robust community input including at a May pop-up event, with extensive community surveys and feedback in the 2019 Parks and Recreation Facilities Master Plan, and with City Council review including the award of construction contract on July 11. For more information, visit the Willow Oaks Park improvements webpage.
