Menlo Park Summer Camp Fair is March 3

Keep your child active and engaged in a fun and enriching setting at City of Menlo Park summer camps. Camps have activities to promote literacy, social and physical development. In addition to City-run summer camps, the City hosts specialty summer camps for sports, martial arts, dance and more. Get information about summer camps at the Summer Camp Fair from 6–7:30 p.m., Friday, March 6, at the Arrillaga Family Recreation Center. Sign up at the fair and receive 10% off city-run camp programs.

 

Celebrate Black History with Muriel Johnson

Acclaimed storyteller Muriel Johnson returns to the Bay Area for a free community performance in Menlo Park for Black History Month. This special program for adults and teens will journey from West Africa to the Black American South with captivating folktales of parenting. Join us at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the Menlo Park Library.

 

Friends of the Library Book Sale

Get a great deal on used books. Friends of Menlo Park Library is an all-volunteer, charitable nonprofit organization. The popular book sale returns with a two-day event taking place Friday, March 3, from 2-5 p.m., and Saturday, March 4, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Menlo Park Library, featuring a wide variety of adult fiction and nonfiction, collectibles, CDs, DVDs and children’s books. Most items are priced at $1 or $2 and 100% of the proceeds support library programs and events.

The City of Menlo Park is now accepting applications for part-time recreation specialists to support after school programs, sports, events and senior center programs. Enthusiastic, driven and responsible applicants who thrive working with various ages in a fun, safe, positive and thriving environment are encouraged to apply. Shifts vary between 7 a.m.–10 p.m. Learn more and apply online.

 

Live music with Twice as Good

Twice as Good music group

Live blues with a Native beat. Paul and Rich Steward are the “Son & Father, Native American, Ultimate Blues Duo,” born on the Pomo Indian lands of the Elem Indian Colony reservation in Lake County. The award-winning duo has traveled around the world with their music, and their next stop is this free community performance at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Belle Haven Branch Library.

 

Teen Tabletop Gaming

TEEN Dungeons and Dragons Dungeon Master Meet

Students in grades 6-12 are welcome at a monthly tabletop gaming meetup. Play Dungeons & Dragons, Honey Heist and more. Invite your friends, and make new ones while we play. Join us at the Menlo Park Library at 4 p.m., Wednesday, March 1.

 

Garden Talk: Garden soil and mulches

Gardening enthusiasts are invited to a monthly live, online Garden Talk starting at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, via Zoom. This month, learn more about the differences between soil and mulch, and which mulch is best for different conditions.
