| Apply for the Civics 101 Academy by Sept. 1
Have questions about local government? Learn about San Mateo County programs, services, finances and initiatives in the Civics 101 Academy. The FREE course led by County department heads and other leaders includes topics such as health, public safety, elections, parks, libraries, the justice system and more. Participants will receive a completion certificate. The program runs Sep. 2 through Oct. 28. from 6-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings. Refreshments are provided. | Electronic waste collection event returns Sept. 5
RethinkWaste and Recology San Mateo County are teaming up with the City of Menlo Park to encourage residents to properly recycle old electronics at the Electronic Waste Collection Event Sept. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon at the City Corporation Yard (333 Burgess Drive). Residents should place their electronic waste in their trunks and remove other personal items to avoid any accidents. City offices will be closed Sept. 7 in observance of Labor Day. Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers and is traditionally observed on the first Monday in September. | New pool hours starting Sept. 8
Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8, Burgess Pool and Belle Haven Pool will implement new hours that were adopted as part of balancing the City's budget for fiscal year 2026-27. Learn more about the changes to the pool hours or view full pool schedules.
BELLE HAVEN POOL HOURS
- Monday–Friday: 3–7 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
- Sunday: 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
BURGESS POOL HOURS
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 6 a.m.–1 p.m. and 3–8 p.m.
- Tuesday, Thursday: 6–10 a.m. and noon–8 p.m.
- Saturday: 6 a.m.–4 p.m.
- Sunday: 7 a.m.–4 p.m.
