Burnet Road corridor project begins construction

Construction is beginning this week between Koenig Lane and MoPac Expressway, marking the next phase of safety, mobility, drainage, and connectivity improvements along Burnet Road.
Groundbreaking Ceremony
Date: Thursday, March 5, 2026
Time: 10 a.m.
Location: Q2 Stadium, 10414 McKalla Place, Austin, TX 78758
City leaders and project partners will share remarks on planned mobility, safety, and connectivity improvements for the corridor.
Planned Improvements
- ADA‑compliant curb ramps to improve accessibility
- Shared‑use paths for safer walking and biking
- Installation of two crosswalk signals (Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons, or PHBs) to support safer crossings
- Traffic signal upgrades
- Drainage improvements
- Realignment of Burnet Lane at Burnet Road to improve safety and traffic operations
Project Funding
This project is funded through the 2016 Austin Mobility Bond – Corridor Improvement Program.
