Carolina Carshare Program Active at Three Sites

For only $5 an hour or $50 a day — what a great deal to get around the Queen City! It's all possible thanks to Carolina Carshare. The city's EV car share program launched in 2025 at Peppertree Apartments with hopes for additional locations to follow. Now, the first of its kind program in the Southeast has expanded to two new locations in Charlotte, the Innovation Barn and McNeel Apartments.

In addition to electric vehicle access at the McNeel location, residents will also have the opportunity to participate in an e-bike program that provides access to e-bikes along with the training and support needed to expand their everyday transportation options. As key collaborators, DreamKey Partners helps identify qualifying residents and Trips for Kids provides essential training and maintenance, so the program delivers comprehensive, wrap-around services that encourage and sustain long-term rider engagement.

Read more about the recent celebration at McNeel and find photos of the event.

Green Pathways Gives Students Lessons in Sustainability

Over the summer, the City of Charlotte’s Office of Youth Opportunities gave high school students and incoming college freshmen an opportunity to step into the world of local government. Through the Green Pathways program, students gained firsthand exposure to the Office of Sustainability and Resilience, learning about the team’s work and what a typical day in the field looks like.

From environmental issues to potential careers, the course aimed at opening their eyes to the future they could have and their ability to foster change right now.

Data Centers Community Engagement

Resident feedback will be an important part of how the city shapes policy recommendations for council in the coming months. We’ve launched a public survey that we encourage you to use to share your thoughts.

There are also several community engagement sessions scheduled throughout September. The meetings are formatted to allow participants to ask questions and give input along the way.
