Community Needs Assessment

Every year, we conduct a Needs Assessment as part of creating our annual Action Plan. The Action Plan decides how to distribute approximately $14 million in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The programs from this grant fund affordable housing, job creation, and public service needs for low- and moderate-income families, persons with disabilities, and seniors. 

Complete the Needs Assessment survey to help advocate for what your community needs. The input received also informs decisions for other funding sources, policies and programs. There are a few ways you can participate: 

• Attend a Public Hearing:  

• Tuesday, April 14 - Community Development Commission - 6:30pm @ Austin City Hall 

• Thursday, April 23 - Austin City Council  - 11:00am @ Austin City Hall

City of Austin Housing Affordability Fair

The City of Austin is hosting the Housing Affordability Fair, a one‑stop shop where residents can connect with existing housing resources and share input on updates to programs that support housing affordability across the city.  

The Housing Affordability Fair will spotlight the City’s expansive set of programs designed to support Austinites through the challenges of increasing housing costs and maintaining financial stability. Attendees will be able to engage with Austin Housing staff and dozens of program partners about offerings ranging from home repair to rental assistance. This family‑friendly event will offer food, kids’ activities, and Spanish interpreters to help ensure everyone can participate fully.
