Interested in aquatics? Apply for a full or part-time lifeguard opening, starting at $20 per hour. If you are not currently a certified lifeguard, we can train you! - Rebound Basketball - Ages two-14
These fun and engaging sessions will help young players develop their skills, from basic dribbling and shooting to more advanced techniques for older players. Sessions are on Saturdays from Sept. 14-Oct. 12.
Parent and Me | Ages two-three and a half | 3:05-3:30 p.m.
First Shots | Ages three and a half-five | 3:35-4:05 p.m.

- Strength Training - Ages 18+
This group strength training class focuses on improving cardiovascular health, building strength, promoting new skills and establishing healthy movement patterns to increase longevity. Class runs from Sept. 11-Dec. 11.

- Poi Spinning - Ages 16+
Discover the mesmerizing art of Poi spinning where you'll swing LED Poi in rhythmic and geometric patterns to create stunning visual effects. Join us on Thursdays from 5-6 p.m. from Sept. 19-Dec. 12. Register here.
- Intro to Graphic Design - Ages 15+
Learn the essentials of graphic design. From logos to layouts and beyond, we'll cover all the basics to get you started on your creative journey! Class is held on Fridays from 4-5:30 p.m. from Sept. 13-Dec. 13. Register here.
- Improvisation - Ages 16+
Using theater games, participants will train to act without a script and explore character, activity and environment to spontaneously create scenes and make the invisible visible. The class will culminate in a short-form improvisation show/share. Classes are on Tuesdays from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. from Sept. 24-Nov. 26. Register here.
- Fit & Fab - Ages 40+
This 30-minute beginner-friendly, over-40 boot camp style workout has been created specifically for our 40+ Fit and Fabulous community members in mind. Join us on Wednesdays and Fridays from 8-8:30 a.m. from Sept. 18-Dec. 13. Register here.

- Adult Boxing - Ages 18+
Adult boxing will include boxing fundamentals, specifically focusing on footwork and proper punching technique, basic combinations, offense and defense while doing a full-body cardio workout. Classes are on Mondays from 10-11 a.m. from Sept. 16-Dec. 9. Register here.

Free community programs

These free community programs received funding support from Friends of Menlo Park Library.
- Create Papel Picado. Papel picado is a traditional Mexican decorative craft made by cutting elaborate designs into sheets of tissue paper. Teaching artist Rachel-Anne Palacios will tell us about the tradition and guide us through making our own papel picado. This activity is best for ages eight-adult. Join us at Menlo Park Library, 800 Alma St., on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 11 a.m.-noon. Learn more.
- Virtual Visit: Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. Director of Horticulture and Grounds Jamie Jensen will introduce us to the 47-acre Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, one of only a few public gardens that front an ocean shore. - Mystery Readers Group: Train Cases. We have had it with these murders on the train – or have we? Menlo Park's Mystery Readers Group is a book club where, rather than all reading a single title, we choose a theme or author each month and share our reads. - Middle-Grade Book Group: The Wild Robot. Middle-Grade Book Group is an in-person group for kids between six and 12. This month's book (and soon-to-be movie) is The Wild Robot, by Peter Brown. When robot Roz opens her eyes for the first time, she discovers she is alone on a remote, wild island. Why is she there? Where did she come from? Library Commission Meeting

The Library Commission is comprised of Menlo Park residents who advise the City Council on matters related to the city's libraries. Library Commission meetings are open to the public and public comments are welcome. The next meeting is on Monday, Sept. 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the Library Annex in the Menlo Park Library, 800 Alma St. This is a hybrid meeting; participants can join online or in person.
