Del Curto Storm Drain Improvements

We want to provide an update on completed work and what to expect as construction continues.

Thornton Road Reopens

The daily closure of Thornton Road is now complete. We will use flaggers to guide traffic around remaining work in the area. We will be installing a headwall inlet on the west side of Thornton Road that will guide stormwater into the underground box culverts.   

The work area on Thornton Road was backfilled and covered with a temporary asphalt surface. Final repaving will occur near the end of the project next year.

What is this project all about?

This project is improving the storm drain system in the South Lamar area and will help protect the area from flooding. In addition to the drainage improvements, the project includes mobility improvements on Bluebonnet Lane and Del Curto. Construction started in November 2025 and is expected to be complete in 2027.

What To Expect

• Permitted work hours are Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

• Please allow extra time to travel and slow down in the construction areas. 

• Roads are being temporarily patched during the construction. They will be repaved at the end of the project, towards the end of 2027. 

• For your safety, stay out of fenced off areas. 

• Please note that as with any construction project, schedules are projected as accurately as possible, and all dates are subject to change due to the nature of construction and weather.
