Pedal Power! Transit Services Gears Up for Bike to Work Day 2024

FREDERICK, Md. - Mark those calendars! The wheels are in motion for Frederick's favorite two-wheeled tradition. Transit Services is gearing up for our annual Bike to Work Day celebration and pit stop on Friday, May 17. Cyclists of all ages are invited to join the two-wheeled festivities from 6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Starting Bike to Work Day bright and early is the Ceremonial Ride, which leaves Hood College's Alumnae Hall at 6:45 a.m. Riders will embark on a family-friendly slow roll through beautiful City of Frederick streets and parks before arriving at City Hall and continuing to the Transit Center.

"Bike to Work Day is a fun and feel-good event with an important message for our community," said Jaime McKay, Transit’s Deputy Director. "We're thrilled to bring people together to celebrate cycling, transit, and commuting options outside of driving solo."

The morning will wrap up with a Pit Stop Celebration at the Transit Center, featuring refreshments, local organizations and nonprofits, City and County Divisions and Departments, giveaways, and a proclamation from the County Executive and Mayor.

With its focus on health, environment, and community, Bike to Work Day inspires Frederick residents to explore car-free commuting. Transit Services makes it easy to get rolling with a scenic, supported ride that invites cyclists of all levels. Transit also has bike racks on the front of every bus to help extend your two-wheeled travels. Dust off those helmets and get ready to ride!

Don't miss out on the wheelie-cool free T-shirt when you register for the Downtown Frederick Pit Stop at BikeToWorkMetroDC.org. For folks in Brunswick, you can register for Brunswick’s event at the same website.
