Special Events Safety Tips

Motorists and Pedestrians

  • Plan ahead.
  • Stay alert and remain cautious.
  • Lookout for each other.
  • Use pedestrian crossings. 
  • Obey the signs.

March 14: St. Patrick’s Day Festival 

The event begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m.  

Closures begin at 5 a.m. and streets will reopen at 9 p.m., and includes the streets below: 

  • S. Tryon Street between Brooklyn Village Avenue and Third Street 

  • Levine Avenue of the Arts between S. Tryon Street and Church Street  

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between Church Street and College Street  

  • Third Street between Church Street and College Street  

Event organizers expect 20,000 participants.

March 14: Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade  

The event begins at 11 a.m. on N Tryon St at 9th Street. 

  • 8 a.m.: N. Tryon Street between 9th Street and 13th Street, as well as the cross streets will close between College and Church Street. 

  • 10 a.m.: N. Tryon Street between 3rd Street and 9th Street, as well as the cross streets will close between College and Church Street.  

Event organizers expect approximately 100,000 attendees.

March 15: Lucky Day 7K Run  

The event begins at 8 a.m. on Elmstone Lane. Participants will travel down Elm Lane, Ballantyne Commons Parkway, North Community House Road, Endhaven Lane, Elm Lane, and conclude on Elmstone Drive.  

Event organizers expect approximately 900 attendees.

March 16-18: CMS buses at Blumenthal  

The shows begin at 10:15 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. and lasts for roughly 45 minutes. School buses will be parked on 5th Street between N. Tryon Street and College , and on N. Tryon Street between 3rd and 9th Street. All buses should be out by 1 p.m. 


 

March 21: No Man’s Land 

The event begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m.  

Closures begin at 7 a.m. and include Camden Road between Tremont Avenue and East/West Boulevard. Streets reopen at 7:30 p.m. 

Event organizers expect 6,500 participants.

March 21: 3-2-1 Dash for Down Syndrome 5K 

The event begins at 8:30 a.m. on Blakeney Professional Drive. Participants will travel down Ardrey Kell Road, Community House Road, Ardrey Woods Drive, Burnside Lane, Tonawanda Drive, Castlebay Drive, Albury Walk Lane, Hanworth Trace Drive, Hirsch Drive, Rea Road and conclude on Blakeney Professional Drive.  

Event organizers expect approximately 450 attendees.

March 21: Run Jen Run 5K 

The event begins at 8 a.m. on Barclay Downs Drive. Participants will travel down Scofield Road, Hatherty Road, Manning Drive, Inverness Road, Ferncliff Road, Colony Road, Roxborough Road and conclude on Carnegie Boulevard.  

Event organizers expect approximately 900 attendees.

March 21: Get Your Rear in Gear 5K 

The event begins at 9 a.m. on 8th Street at Caldwell Street. Participants will travel down Caldwell Street, Scofield Road, Hatherty Road, Manning Drive, Inverness Road, Ferncliff Road, Colony Road, Roxborough Road and conclude on Carnegie Boulevard.  

Event organizers expect approximately 2,000 attendees.

March 22: Camden Commons 

The event begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m.  

Closures begin at 8 a.m. and include Camden Road between Tremont Avenue and East/West Boulevard. Streets reopen at 8 p.m. 

Event organizers expect 1,000 participants.

March 27: Charlotte Knights Open Day Fan Fest 

The event begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m. 

Closures begin at 4 p.m. and include Mint Street between 3rd Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Streets will reopen at 8 p.m.  

Event organizers expect 2,000 participants.

March 28: Craft Half Marathon and 5 Miler 

The event begins at 8 a.m. at Brixham Hill Park. Participants will travel down Brixham Hill Avenue, Ballantyne Corporate Place, Upper Avenue, North Community House Road, Lower Avenue, and the McAlpine Creek Greenways. Participants will return on the McAlpine Creek Greenways and conclude at Brixham Hill Park.   

Event organizers expect approximately 1,100 attendees.

March 28: Corvian Cardinal 5K 

The event begins at 9 a.m. at the Corvian Community High School. Participants will travel to Johnston Oehler Road, Jimmy Oehler Road, and will return on the same route to Corvian Community High School. 

Event organizers expect approximately 400 attendees.
