Design Phase Advances Following Initial Approval from Historic Resources Commission 

Designers continue to finalize a concept for the Walton Street Park project after receiving the green light on a first round of review from the Historic Resources Commission (HRC) at their meeting on June 10. With this good news, we will be ready to share the concept with the community later this summer. 

The project to revitalize Walton Street Park is being guided by community feedback from the Walton Street Park Community Engagemtent Report, community meetings, and a survey from late 2025. Review by the HRC is required at multiple points in the design phase due to the historic designation of the Walton Street Park Pool House. 

We look forward to presenting the community with a design concept that portrays a collective vision! Please stay tuned for future email updates, and to the project page, where the renderings will be posted.

Grant Southside Center's Monthly Block Parties 

Unplug, unwind, and connect with neighbors on the second Friday of each month during the summer at Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Southside Community Center, located about a quarter mile from Walton Street Park. Enjoy food from the grill, yard games, music from DJ Audio, conversations, and more from 6-8:30pm!
