
Elisabet Ney Museum Building Restoration and Site Improvements Project Update
February 2026
Construction work continues towards completion on the building restoration and site improvements at the Elisabet Ney Museum. Refurbishment of the portico was added to the project and the project schedule has been extended one month. Additional restoration and repair scopes are being evaluated, which may cause a further extension of the project schedule.
Completed Work
- Installed wood decking and lighted handrails at bridge
- Removal of existing bridge
- Mortar analysis
- Windows 10 & 11 have been structurally re-anchored
- Low voltage telecommunications cabling and conduit*
*including fire alarm, security system and building automation controls
- Plumbing & concrete scopes
- Tree saplings planted
- New basement hatch covers installed
- Repaired and cleaned site drainage piping
- Vertical chase containing pipes completed

- Reinstallation of windows and doors

- Reinstallation of data & security systems

Upcoming Work
- Approved Texas Room window pulley system installation
- HVAC start-up and commissioning
- Electrical and lighting "trim out"
*functional fixtures (outlets, switches, etc.) installed after walls are closed
- Fire alarm system reinstallation
- Glass guardrail and iron handrail to be fabricated and installed in stairwell to 2nd floor and at landing
- Removal of protective covering to repair wood flooring
- Exterior mortar repairs
- Installation of retaining wall on south side of the creek

Announcements
- The Art In Public Places selected artist, Tamara Johnson, is working to finalize potential artwork locations in coordination with the landscape plan. Once locations are determined, she will begin finalizing the design, budget and timeline.

Construction Schedule Milestones
- Construction began - February 10, 2025
- Anticipated Re-opening of Museum – Fall 2026
- Anticipated completion of all major construction activity - Early 2026
