  • From February 27th through April 6th, the Cary/Apex Water Treatment Plant will switch from chloramine disinfection to free chlorine disinfection. Water remains safe to drink.

Environmental Programs Impact Report Reflects on 2025 Wins and Highlights Ways to Engage in 2026

In 2025, the Town of Apex Environmental Programs team led many initiatives aimed at enhancing Environmental Leadership, one of the 5 strategic goals set by the Apex Town Council. Some highlights from the Impact Report include removing over 800 pounds of invasive plant species, accepting 28 habitats into the Pollinator Habitat Certification Program, and diverting nearly 200 pounds of waste at Apex special events. 

The team has exciting opportunities planned in 2026 to help engage residents, including:

  • The Salem Streetscape project is underway but downtown Apex is fully open for business!

Town-Maintained Roads Receive Refresh

Using data from a Pavement Condition Survey conducted every three years, the Town prioritizes specific neighborhoods for street maintenance to extend the life of our roads.

Depending on the current condition of the road, the Town utilizes two primary methods to refresh our streets – asphalt resurfacing or microsurfacing. If your street is scheduled for work, you will receive advance notice.

March 1-7 is NC Severe Weather Preparedness Week

Severe weather can happen quickly and with little warning! Now is the time to review your family’s emergency plan, identify safe shelter locations, and make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts. Secure outdoor items, know the difference between a weather watch and a warning, and practice what to do if severe storms or tornadoes threaten our area.

Annual State of the Town Video 

Apex continues to reach higher, together! Our annual State of the Town video reflects on key accomplishments from the past year. From major initiatives to community-driven efforts, 2025 brought meaningful projects that continue moving Apex forward.

Special thanks to a local partner who graciously provided the aircraft for filming as a courtesy to the Town, and to the Town of Apex Fire Department for the opportunity to capture footage from their ladder truck (on a very chilly day!).

Seeking Artist Proposals for Two Apex Murals

The Town of Apex has two potential mural projects - one at the Saunders Street parking lot in Downtown Apex and the other at the Apex Nature Park Amphitheatre.

Artists are invited to submit proposals for one or both projects by Monday, April 27th.
