Additional lane closures to begin on Brodie Lane

Construction activities continue along the Slaughter Lane corridor as part of ongoing mobility and safety improvements.
The lane reduction on Slaughter Lane at MoPac Expressway is expected to remain in place through November 2026. Beginning the week of October 12, 2026, additional lane closures will be implemented on southbound Brodie Lane approaching Slaughter Lane to support the next phase of construction.

New traffic signals installed along Slaughter Lane are anticipated to become active in October 2026. These improvements are designed to enhance operations and improve traffic flow throughout the corridor.

Drivers should plan for extra travel time and remain alert to changing traffic patterns while work continues.

Planned Improvements - MoPac Expressway to Brodie Lane

• Six-lane divided street from MoPac Expressway to Brodie Lane.

• Modernized signals and pedestrian improvements at intersections like Brodie Ln. and Bowie High School.

• Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (crosswalk signal) at Zuniga Drive and safety-focused intersection changes.

• Shared-use pathways for pedestrians and cyclists;

• Curb extensions for safer crossings

• Drainage upgrades, including stormwater detention and water quality structures

This project is funded through the 2016 Austin Mobility Bond – Corridor Mobility Program.
