Apex Rotary Christmas Parade

The Apex Rotary Christmas Parade will take place Saturday, December 6, 2025, starting at 5:00 p.m. in downtown Apex. The parade begins at the corner of Apex Peakway & Ambergate Station, travels down Salem Street, and ends at Moore Street.

Note that the parade is a rain or shine event.

Ways to Watch:

  • Chair Placement: The sidewalk along N Salem St. between Chatham and Center Streets will be clearly marked to indicate where chairs can be placed after 10 pm on Friday in this specific area of downtown. Chairs that do not meet these guidelines will be relocated to the Apex Police Department (205 Saunders Street) for pickup.
  • ADA-Accessible Viewing Area: Apex Fire Station 1 will be a designated area for those with accessibility concerns to watch the parade. The section will be marked with cones and signage and will be monitored by town staff.
  • Bleacher Seating: New for 2025! Two sections of bleachers will be placed in front of the Apex Fire Station 1 and available for the public to use. This is first come, first serve. No standing is permitted on the bleachers. 
  • Streaming Online: WRAL will air a live broadcasting of the Christmas Parade. More information to come on where you can find the broadcast.

Service Changes for Holiday

All Town offices and facilities  will be closed Wednesday, December 24th through Friday, December 26th.

  • Trash and recycling will run on normal schedule Monday through Wednesday. Collection will be delayed by one day for Thursday and Friday routes. Friday customers will be collected on Saturday.
  • Yard waste crews will service as many homes as possible Monday through Wednesday. Items not collected during the week of December 22nd will be collected the following week.

Holiday Tour of Lights Homes are Ready to Spread Cheer!

The 2025 Holiday Tour of Lights kicks off on Saturday, December 6th with 30 homes and businesses ready to welcome visitors. The Tour runs every night from 6 pm to 9 pm through December 31st. Two routes have been created to help optimize drive times around Apex. Stay tuned for the maps and routes to be posted on Friday, December 5th!

MLK Donation Drive Benefitting Dorcas Ministries

Now through January 19th (the National Day of Service) the Town of Apex is collecting donations to benefit Dorcas Ministries. This is organized as part of the Martin Luther King Jr Weekend activities. Drop off your items at:

  • John M. Brown Community Center (53 Hunter St)
  • Apex Town Hall (73 Hunter St)
  • The Halle Cultural Arts Center (237 N Salem St)
  • Fire Station 1 (210 N. Salem Street)
  • Fire Station 3 (736 Hunter Street)
  • Public Safety Station 5 (2050 Kelly Road)

Items most needed:  Bar Soap / Body Wash, Deodorant, Laundry Pods and/or Liquid Detergent, Lotion, Razors (men’s & women’s), Shampoo & Conditioner, Toothbrushes & Toothpaste, Women’s Hygiene Products (pads, tampons)

Apex Peakway Bridge Construction to Begin Overnight

Construction of the Apex Peakway southwest connector bridge really starts to take shape this week as the girder beams are installed over S Salem Street!

The work will create temporary overnight lane closures from 9 pm - 5 am, December 1st through 5th. Drivers can expect delays in this area, with crews move traffic through the constrcution zone as quickly and safely as possible. Construction timing is weather-dependent with low temperatures and forecasted precipitation potentially leading to a shift in the schedule.

Snowman Stroll on Salem Launches December 5th

The Snowman Stroll on Salem combines all of the best parts of the holiday season - festive decorations, ways to spend time with friends and family, and the best holiday shopping deals!

Join us in Downtown Apex as you explore, collect passport stamps by visiting participating businesses, and engage in a variety of holiday activities. Each stop along the stroll features delightful snowman and winter-themed specials, decorations, and unique offerings. Find passports at local businesses and at holiday events the weekend of December 5th and start filling them right away!

Spend the Holidays in Apex

Check out a few ways to celebrate the season below! Click on each event's name to learn more.

  • Annual Christmas and Wreath Auction and Exhibit: Visit the Halle Cultural Arts Center to view and bid on wreaths submitted by local businesses and organizations.
  • Tree Lighting Ceremony: Join community members and Apex Town Council as the tree is lit on Town Hall Campus for the very first time!
  • Rotary Pancake Breakfast (organized by the Apex Rotary Club): Head over to Fire Station 1 on Salem Street for a morning of pancakes, choice of sausage/bacon, and unlimited orange juice/coffee. Proceeds are donated to creating local school scholarships.
  • Apex Christmas Parade (organized by the Apex Rotary Club): Bring your lawn chairs and set up along the parade route to be a part of this Apex tradition! The parade route begins at the intersection of Ambergate Station and Apex Peakway, heading down Salem Street and ending at the Apex Public Works buildings on Upchurch Street.
  • Apex Chanukah Festival (organized by Chabad of Cary): Join Mayor Jacques Gilbert as he lights the Shamash on the menorah on Apex Town Campus to celebrate the beginning of Chanukah!
