October 2025 Project Updates
Background
The Givens Recreation Center remains closed for major improvements as part of two coordinated renovation projects. These upgrades are designed to enhance safety and improve facility operations. The work began in November 2024, with a new metal roof installed in January 2025. The facility is temporarily closed during renovations. Nearly completed work includes replacing gymnasium windows and reinstalling solar panels with completion anticipated in fall 2025. Future work includes replacement of the concrete patio, replacement of the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment, replacement of the flat roof and work on the gymnasium interior. Both projects anticipate completion in 2026.
Completed Tasks
- Fascia and South Mechanical room access doors are painted
- Scaffolding removed except for the stair tower to access the flat roof
- Interior paint touch up around gymnasium windows
- HVAC equipment completely removed
- Temporary HVAC units installed in the gymnasium
- Air & water testing of new windows
Ongoing Tasks
- Installation of new HVAC equipment
- Installation of new concrete patio
- Lobby drinking fountain replacement
Upcoming Tasks

Announcements
- A crane will be onsite the last week of October to remove existing HVAC equipment
- A few parking spaces between the pool and Rec Center will be utilized for material storage
- The water cistern on the west side of the recreation center will be relocated to the east side of the facility to be used for watering the community garden.

- This is an active construction site. For the safety of the public, unauthorized entry is not permitted.
- Work hours adhere to the City’s Noise Ordinance.
