At their June 26th meeting, City Council authorized entering into a contract with the UNC School of Government's Development Finance Initiative to provide site identification services as part of the Strategic Housing Plan. DFI's work could begin as early as August. DFI will be conducting a community scan of existing conditions, a housing needs assessment, and community engagement activities, as well as establishing affordable housing priorities. They will identify up to four sites and analyze data and conduct financial analysis. Their final deliverables will be a recommendation of up to two sites as potential affordable housing project locations.
