Project Update: N. Lexington Avenue Sidewalk

Survey Work on N. Lexington Avenue as Design Phase Continues

Thanks to all of you who have shared your input on this project. We’re committed to keeping you informed and engaged.  The project remains in the design phase, working toward a 60% design in early summer.

In preparation for the future sidewalk construction, engineering crews from Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc.(JMT)  will be on the street on Monday, March 30, digging test holes to confirm the exact location of underground utilities. This is an important step to minimize future disruptions or delays and ensure a successful project.

Planned work locations are:

  • In front of Swahili Coast, near the curb
  • In front of the entrance to Royal Peasantry and Love Cats (no drilling required, crews will access water meter)
  • Between Nest Organics and Blue Ridge Souvenirs & Sweets

There will be noise and some disruption from this work.

JMT will close parking spots along the block directly in front of the test hole locations. No lane closures are planned for the work, and crews will aim to complete the work as soon as feasible to minimize disruption to businesses. The goal is to complete the work in the morning hours, but the crew will remain on the block until these final test holes are complete.
