CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Our work will resume next Monday, August 14 with the last of the roadway resurfacing process (see schedule below). Thus far, traffic management operations have been exceptional with continued refinements to reduce traffic hold queues. For our regular Sanpete to Utah county travelers, we want to thank you for your ongoing patience over the last several days. A reminder to motorists to be aware of traffic control warning signs preparing you to come to a complete stop for flaggers. Pilot-cars will safely lead your vehicle through the construction zone. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES

Latest Work Completed

We are approximately half-way through the resurfacing phase of the project and will use an additional two to three days to finish the work next week.

Upcoming Construction Activities & Traffic Impacts

Once the resurfacing work comes to a close, we will transition immediately into the first coat of travel lane paint lines and various roadway striping. By the week of August 21, we will begin installing/replacing roadside signs along the route. These post-paving operations should move fast, but will be dependent on material availability and weather conditions. Motorists should expect to hold for flaggers next week with one-way alternating traffic operations. Delays should range between 5-10 minutes. By late week, traffic hold queues will be reduced significantly.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will resurface U.S. Route 89 in Utah County from State Route 6 (Thistle turnoff) to Birdseye. The project objectives are aimed at preserving the life of the roadway. The paving process will help increase the longevity of the road surface, address roadway defects and enhance motorist safety by providing good skid resistance for vehicles. Additionally, updated guardrail will be installed along with a culvert repaired and catch basin added.
