ENOUGH Initiative Unveils Farm to School Frederick Veggie Van
Bringing Fresh Produce Directly to the Community
FREDERICK, Md. – The Frederick County Government’s ENOUGH Initiative unveiled its Farm to School Frederick pilot expansion during an event on May 13. This program aims to bring fresh, affordable produce directly to families in the Golden Mile community.
During the celebration, the nonprofit Farm to School Frederick unveiled a new produce mobile market van, purchased through the County’s ENOUGH Initiative, and held a neighborhood market where families could purchase locally sourced vegetables. Frederick County’s ENOUGH grant to Farm to School Frederick was funded through the Governor’s Office for Children.
"The Farm to School Frederick pilot is a testament to our commitment to building a healthier and more equitable community," said Leshia Chandler, Director of the Division of Family Services. "By connecting families with fresh, local produce, we are not only improving nutrition but also supporting local farmers and empowering our neighbors to thrive."
The Farm to School Frederick expansion supports the ENOUGH Initiative’s mission to end child poverty in the Golden Mile by addressing food insecurity and improving access to nutritious food options. By bringing fresh produce directly into neighborhoods, the program aims to make healthy choices more accessible and affordable.
This expansion is made possible through strong collaboration among state and local partners, including the Governor’s Office for Children, Farm to School Frederick, the Frederick County Division of Family Services, the Frederick County ENOUGH Initiative Advisory Council, and the Frederick County ENOUGH Community Voice Committee.
The Frederick County ENOUGH Initiative continues to invest in community-driven solutions that strengthen families, improve well‑being, and expand opportunities along the Golden Mile.
