Healthy Communities White Paper Now Available!

As part of the ongoing staff work and analysis for Plan Forward, a healthy communities white paper is now available. This white paper, linked below, details the history of community health and human services in the county, includes health data from around the county, as well as various trends and best practices for community health to help identify potential recommendations for the county's Policy Plan:

The white paper will also be discussed with the Board of Supervisors Land Use Policy Committee during their January 28 meeting, which will be streamed live on Channel 16 and available afterwards. Fairfax County launched community outreach for Plan Forward in 2024 as a comprehensive initiative to update its 1990 Policy Plan, guiding land use and development decisions. Topics like expanding economic opportunities, providing access to public facilities and convenient modes of transportation, and creating a pleasing and sustainable environment to live and work in are all addressed within the Policy Plan. Anticipated to conclude by the end of 2025, Plan Forward brings an important opportunity to ensure updated Comprehensive Plan policies enhance the quality of life for our residents.
