Special Events Safety Tips

Motorists and Pedestrians

  • Plan ahead.
  • Stay alert and remain cautious.
  • Lookout for each other.
  • Use pedestrian crossings. 
  • Obey the signs.

May 16: Heartest Yard + Showmars 5K 

The event begins at 8 a.m. at Atrium Health Myers Park. Participants will travel along Maryland Avenue, Princeton Avenue, Jameston Drive, Lynnwood Drive, Sterling Road, Queens Road West, and conclude at Atrium Health Myers Park.   

Event organizers expect 900 participants.

May 16: Redemption Run 5K / Central Church 

The event begins at 9 a.m. at Central Church on Sardis Road. Participants will travel along Providence Road, Rutledge Avenue, Randolph Road, and conclude on Sardis Road.

May 16: Let Me Run Spring 5K 

The event begins at 9 a.m. at Arco Corporate Park. Participants will travel through the parking lots of the Corporate Park, Arco Corporate Drive, Whitehall Park Driv, and conclude in the parking lot.  

Event organizers expect 800 participants.

May 17: Camden Commons 

The event begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m.  

Street closures will begin at 8 a.m. and will reopen at 11:30 p.m. Closures include the parking spots along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between Church Street and Mint Street and all parking spots on 3rd Street between Church Street and Mint Street. 

Event organizers expect 900 participants.

May 23: Queen City Fest 

The event begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m.  

Street closures will begin at 8 a.m. and will reopen at 5:30 p.m. Closures include Levine Avenue of the Arts between Church Street and Tryon Street. 

Event organizers expect 900 participants.

May 23: CLT FC vs. New England Revolution Fan Fest 

The event begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 11:30 p.m. 

Street closures will begin at 2 p.m. and will reopen at 10 p.m. Closures include Mint Street between Morehead Road and 1st Street, Brooklyn Village Avenue between Church Street and Mint Street, and Graham Street between Mint Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. 

Event organizers expect 25,000 participants.

May 23: Laps with Legends 5K 

The event begins at 9 a.m. at the Nascar Hall of Fame. Participants will travel along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, McDowell Street, Morehead Street, S. Tryon Street, Bland Street, Mint Street, Brooklyn Village Avenue, Caldwell Street, and conclude at the Nascar Hall of Fame.  

Event organizers expect 500 participants.

May 24: Best of Both World’s Festival 

The event begins at 1 p.m. And ends at 11:30 p.m.  

Parking spot closures will begin at 8 a.m. and will reopen at 8 p.m. Closures include Camden Road between Tremont Avenue and East/West Boulevard. 

Event organizers expect 1,000 participants.

May 30: NoDa 5K 

The event begins at 6 p.m. at 32nd Street at N. Tryon Street. Participants will travel along N. Tryon Street to Church Street, 25th Street, Poplar Street, 28th Street, Bancroft Street, Dogwood Avenue, 30th Street, and conclude at 32nd Street.  

Event organizers expect 950 participants.

May 30: Run Ballantyne 8K/5K and Fun Run 

The event begins at 7:30 a.m. on Upper Avenue. Participants will travel along Community House Road, Lower Avenue, Ballantyne Corporate Place, through the parking lots of Ballantyne Corporate Park, and conclude on Upper Avenue.   

Event organizers expect 1,000 participants.

June 13: Healthy Achievement 5K/8K 

The event begins at 8 a.m. on Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard. Participants will travel along Graham Street, 4th Street, Walnut Avenue, Wesley Heights Greenway, Cedar Street, 4th Street, Graham Street, and conclude on Mint Street.   

Event organizers expect 700 participants.

June 14: She Tris Sprint Triathlon 

The event begins at 7 a.m. at the YMCA on Quail Hollow Road. Participants will use Quail Hollow Road, Gleneagles Road, Park Road, Sharon Road, and Sharon Hill Road for biking and running events.
