Construction on the Burnet Road Corridor Improvements Project has reached an important milestone. Work is now underway on the northern segment of the corridor, from approximately Braker Lane to MoPac Expressway. With this phase now active, all three segments of the project—from Koenig Lane to MoPac—are officially under construction. This progress reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to delivering safer, more accessible, and more reliable transportation options for everyone who travels along Burnet Road.
Over the coming months, crews will continue work that includes utility upgrades, intersection improvements, drainage enhancements, and new pedestrian and bicycle facilities. As construction activity increases, people traveling through the corridor may see lane shifts, temporary detours, and periodic closures. While the City and its contractors are working to minimize impacts, some travel delays are expected.
We encourage all travelers to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and remain patient as improvements move forward. When possible, using transit can help reduce vehicle traffic through the work zone and make trips smoother for everyone. Throughout construction, pedestrian and bicycle access will remain open and maintained to ensure safe options for people walking, rolling, and biking.
The City of Austin appreciates the community’s continued cooperation and understanding as this work continues. These investments will create a more connected, more comfortable, and more efficient corridor for all who live, work, and travel in the area.
