Governor Moore Visits Frederick County
The news: Yesterday, Governor Wes Moore visited Frederick County as part of his "Delivering for Maryland" tour, highlighting vital investments in education, affordable housing, and seniors.
Why it matters: We were proud to have Governor Moore in Frederick County to celebrate investments in our community, including $3 million to build affordable senior units on County owned land. Together, we are delivering real results that make our communities stronger, more connected, and more affordable.

Community Partnership Grant Awards Announced
The news: I recently announced $1.2 million in awards to 42 local nonprofit organizations through the Community Partnership Grant program. This program awards competitive grants to nonprofit organizations. Priorities for funding support one of four areas: Addressing Homelessness and Housing Solutions, Quality of Life, Public Health, and Supporting the Arts.
Why it matters: Frederick County is fortunate to have such a large number of nonprofits working to address the needs of people in our community. We are proud to partner with nonprofits to move towards our vision of a Frederick County where everyone can live, work, and thrive while feeling a strong sense of place and belonging.

Provide Feedback on Doing Business with Frederick County
The news: Frederick County recently released its first-ever Procurement Disparity Study to assess if barriers or discrimination exist in contracting procedures. As part the next steps of the process, businesses and community members are invited to take an online survey about operating a business within Frederick County.
Why it matters: We are taking steps to ensure County contracting works fairly and opens doors to more businesses in our community. Your input will help ensure fair, inclusive, and accessessible contracting opportunities for all.

West Frederick Library Project Unveils Exterior Design
The news: Along with Frederick County Public Libraries and local leaders, we recently unveiled a sign showing the exterior design of the new West Frederick Library located at 501 S. McCain Drive in the Hillcrest neighborhood.
Why it matters: This unveiling brings us one step closer to providing essential resources and a vibrant community space for residents. We are excited to share the vision for this new facility and look forward to continuing to engage the community as the project moves forward.

Farmers and Agribusiness Invited to Participate in Ag Workforce Study
The news: Local farmers and agricultural businesses are invited to participate in the Frederick County Office of Agriculture’s Workforce Study. This study will help the County better understand current needs, challenges, and opportunities facing the local agriculture labor force.
Why it matters: The Agricultural Workforce Study is a vital tool for ensuring the long-term sustainability and resilience of Frederick County’s farming community. By gathering input from our farmers and agribusinesses today, we can better address workforce challenges and seize opportunities that will strengthen our local agriculture for generations to come.

Draft Historic Preservation Plan
The news: You are encouraged to review and share feedback on Frederick County Government’s draft Historic Preservation Plan by June 2. The Historic Preservation Plan is a functional planning document intended to assist the County in addressing important issues related to cultural and historic resources.
Why it matters: Throughout 2025, the County’s Livable Frederick Planning and Design Office collaborated with a diverse group of stakeholders and community members to develop the draft Historic Preservation Plan. Community feedback will help shape the final version of the plan.
