Welcome to the Corridor Program Construction Update! 

The Corridor Mobility Program is the development, design, and construction of improvements along key Austin corridors that enhance mobility, safety, and connectivity for all users—whether you drive, walk, bike, or take transit. Prioritization of the improvements to receive 2016 Mobility Bond funding was guided by City Council’s Contract with Voters. Read on to stay updated on news, closures and impacts coming to your area.

Intersection improvements coming to Airport Boulevard 'C1A' segment

​​​​Airport 'C1A': 55th Street to 45th Street

• Westbound lanes on the north side of Bruning Avenue will be rerouted for the next few weeks. Similar work and traffic changes will follow on the south side as crews install shared use paths and ADA ramps. 

Airport 'C3': MLK Jr. Boulevard to MoKan Trail Bridge

• Construction is expected to begin fall 2025. Work features bike and pedestrian improvements, including 10-foot continuous shared use paths on west side of Airport from MLK Blvd to Springdale Rd.

Airport Boulevard Signal Improvements

• Construction is extending between N. Lamar to US 183. Phase two work includes design and upgrades of Accessible Pedestrian Signals at Manor Road are in progress, with construction anticipated to begin this year.

Burnet Road 'C2': White Horse Trail to U.S. 183

• Construction is anticipated to begin fall 2025. Enhancements begin at the intersection of Burnet Road and Koenig Lane, continuing north along Burnet Road to approximately 500 feet south of US 183. 

Burnet Road 'C3': Bright Verde Way to Loop 1

• Final Design and permitting ongoing. Construction is anticipated to start early 2026. Approximately 1.5 linear miles of corridor mobility improvements for Burnet Road from Bright Verde Way to Loop 1.

Burnet Road 'C4': U.S. 183 to Bright Verde Way

• Start of construction anticipated this fall. Work will include safety and mobility improvements along Burnet Road between Bright Verde Way and US 183 Expressway.

East MLK Jr. Boulevard/FM 969 Corridor Construction project limits

East MLK Boulevard 'C1': US 183 to Decker Lane

• Design phase expected to wrap up early 2026. Improvements include dual sidewalk improvements up to Johnny Morris Road, raised median eastbound approaching Decker Lane, and signal upgrades at Craigwood and Decker Lane, including a new signal at Sendero Hills.

Enhancements include the expansion to six-lane divided roadway from Mopac to Brodie Lane.

Slaughter Lane 'C2': Loop 1 to East of Brodie Lane

• Construction began this month. Community members are invited to Meet the Contractor, Smith Contracting Co., this Wednesday, July 16 at Bethany Lutheran Church. 

Slaughter Lane Pedestrian & Bicycle Improvements

• Planned construction work has been completed. Permitting for work by Art In Public Places (AIPP) is complete, with start of work pending at the Mary Moore Searight Park entrance.

Slaughter Lane Signal Improvements

• Signal installation at Slaughter Lane and Bilbrook Drive is expected to be completed later this summer. Work will occur at various intersections along Slaughter Lane between FM 1826 and Bluff Springs Road. 

Improvements are coming to South Lamar Boulevard between Riverside Drive and U.S. 290

South Lamar Boulevard 'C3': W. Mary at Evergreen

• Construction is anticipated to begin the first week of August. Work will take place at the intersection of W. Mary Street and Evergreen Avenue, with planned improvements that include a new roundabout and upgraded bicycle and pedestrian facilities.

South Lamar Boulevard 'C3': Bluebonnet Lane and Del Curto Road

• Construction is anticipated to begin in 2026. The project entered into bid on June 2 as part of a coordinated project with the Watershed Protection Department..

South Lamar Boulevard 'C2': Barton Springs to US 290

• Project is in final design. Construction will consist of approximately three miles of corridor mobility improvements, including intersection improvements, like new and upgraded traffic signals, on South Lamar Boulevard from Barton Springs Road to US 290.

South Lamar Reconductoring Project

• Phase two construction began this month. Construction is expected to last one to two months per phase, taking place in the right and left lanes, leaving the middle lane open for north and southbound traffic flow.

The closure will last for several months as construction of the intersection is completed.

William Cannon 'C5': Running Water Drive to McKinney Falls Parkway

• Construction is on-going, including paving along the south side of William Cannon Drive. Janes Ranch Road is closed between William Cannon Drive and Ondontra Bend - the closure will last several months.
