Apex Peakway Southwest Connector
Soon, you may notice Town of Apex Electric Utilities staff working along Apex Peakway, as well as S. Salem Street. Their work will continue for about two months, and includes the relocation of overhead electric lines and poles. They will also trim or remove trees that are within the easement of the relocated lines.
This work is being done as we prepare for construction of the Apex Peakway Southwest Connector project. Below is a timeline of events you can expect for the Peakway project:
- Relocation of electric utilities (Fall / Winter 2023)
- Final approval / coordination with CSX, NCDOT, and FHWA (Fall / Winter 2023)
- Begin construction (Spring 2024)
Please note: This schedule is subject to change, as we await approval from several outside agencies - CSX Railroad, the NC Department of Transportation, and the Federal Highway Administration.
Once construction begins next year, the project is anticipated to take up to three years to complete. For more detailed information on the project background, current timeline, and frequently asked questions, visit the project page.
