| Engage in the City Budget Workshop May 28

Join the City Council for a budget workshop May 29 from 6–7:30 p.m. The budget workshop is an opportunity to hear an overview of what is included in the City’s annual spending plan, which incorporates the City Council's identified budget principles. During the workshop, staff will discuss topics including an overview of departmental services, baseline service levels, proposed changes and a summary of the proposed budget. Community members will have a chance to ask questions and share feedback on how to allocate resources as the City Council considers the proposed budget. Read more...

| City Council adopts Menlo Park's first Anti-Displacement Plan

At its May 19 meeting, the City Council adopted the City’s first Anti-Displacement Plan, marking a significant step to combat the displacement of its residents. Displacement occurs when people are forced to relocate from their homes or neighborhoods due to factors outside of their control. The City's Anti-Displacement Plan will primarily focus on creating strategies that support tenant protections, with the intention of creating safeguards for community members against rising housing costs and the threat of eviction. | Attend the Downtown Development Study Session June 2

Join us for a study session on the development of the downtown parking lots. The City Council will conduct a special meeting Tuesday, June 2, at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers (751 Laurel St.). This is an opportunity to learn more about the development teams and their vision for Parking Plazas 1, 2 and 3. | Draft 2025 Urban Water Management Plan available for public review

Drafts of the 2025 Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP) and Water Shortage Contingency Plan (WSCP) are now available for public review and comment. The UWMP and associated WSCP are a critical part of meeting Menlo Park Municipal Water customers’ long-range water supply needs for both normal and dry year weather conditions. The UWMP serves as the long-term guide to ensure a reliable water supply for the next 20 years. The WSCP outlines the City actions and demand management measures that may be implemented based on various future drought conditions. Read more...

| New public seating available at the 600 Block Public Plaza May 31

The 600 Block Public Plaza on Santa Cruz Avenue is undergoing a major transformation. Once complete, the plaza will have seating, new landscaping, shade canopies and space for performances and entertainment. The plaza will be a central downtown location for community gatherings. In the meantime, new furnishings are being installed, available to the public as open seating. Stop by May 31 between 9 a.m. – noon to learn more from City staff about the plaza and upcoming community events. Read more...

Join us Monday, June 1 from 1–5 p.m. outside the Menlo Park Library (800 Alma St.) to celebrate the City's newest solar installations, now generating clean energy at four City facilities including the library itself! Stop by for snacks and hands-on suncatcher and cyanotype paper crafts (perfect for soaking up some sunshine while you create) and chat with Peninsula Clean Energy and City staff about simple ways to bring more clean energy to your home. | MPPD participates in the Law Enforcement Torch Run May 21

The Menlo Park Police Department proudly participated in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run May 21, continuing a tradition that began in 1981 to raise awareness and support for Special Olympics athletes. This year, the “Flame of Hope” was ceremoniously passed to our staff at Menlo College, who continued the run down El Camino Road and carried it proudly to the finish line in Palo Alto. Read more...

In observance of CalFresh Awareness Month, the Human Services Agency Outreach team will provide special Saturday hours May 30 from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. at the 1500 Fashion Island Blvd. parking lot in San Mateo to help residents apply for public benefits, get answers to their questions, and prepare for CalFresh changes taking effect June 1.
