Free Pet Vaccination and Microchip Clinics

In partnership with Animal Defense League Texas and Protect Your Pet, we’ll be hosting FREE pet vaccination and microchipping events every weekend throughout SA.
What to expect: Clinic services are available for City of San Antonio residents only. Limit to 100 pets served, 3 pets per household. All services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Please bring a current picture ID for address verification.
For your pets: All canines must remain on a leash or in a carrier. All felines must remain in a carrier, one adult per carrier or two kittens per carrier. Each eligible pet 12 weeks or older will receive a 1-year Rabies vaccine. DHPP vaccines will be provided for canines. FVRCP vaccines will be provided for felines. Each pet receiving services must be microchipped or will receive a microchip at time of service.

Home Rehabilitation Program
Applications open now through Nov. 20.
The City of San Antonio provides funding to low- and moderate-income homeowners to help with home rehabilitation to address health, safety and/or code issues. The Home Rehab Program can assist with home repairs such as:
- Electrical / Plumbing / Heating + Cooling
- Foundation/Structural
- Roof Shingle Replacement
- Water Heater
- Windows and doors replacement

The application can only be submitted online. Homeowners who need help submitting an online application may contact one of the nonprofit partners below to schedule an appointment for help.

MLK 9th Annual Citywide Student Art Contest
Deadline November 27
Theme: "Yesterday's Dream, Today's Vision, Tomorrow's Reality"
As part of the commemorations, the City of San Antonio is hosting its annual Student Art Contest to encourage youth to create original artwork that is inspired by the 2024 theme of “Yesterday’s Dream, Today’s Vision, Tomorrow’s Reality.”
The selected artwork will be used on marketing materials to promote the 2024 March and Commemorative calendar of events. The contest is open to youth ages 18 and under in elementary, middle, and high school levels. Only Bexar County residents can submit.
Prize
One selected artist will receive:
- Four all access passes to Official 2024 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission events.
- Special recognition in communications announcing the contest winner.
- One Department of Arts & Culture gift bag.

San Antonio Zoo Honors U.S. Military Personnel
Free Admission in November
San Antonio Zoo is showing appreciation to the United States military by offering free admission for the entire month of November. Zoo Salutes, presented by USAA, honors active duty, retired, and veteran members of the military, National Guard, and reserves with free admission (with proper ID), and up to four guests can receive 50% off Standard Admission on the day of visit from November 1 through November 30. This offer is made possible with the support of USAA and helps us pay tribute to our country's heroes who often sacrifice family time to protect our freedom.

The City of San Antonio, in partnership with District 2 Councilman Jalen McKee-Rodriguez and the San Antonio Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission chaired by Dwayne Robinson, is inviting the community to take part in the largest march in the nation. The 37th Martin Luther King, Jr. March and Celebration will take place in person on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024 at 10 a.m.
The 2024 celebration will begin with the in-person march kickoff at 10 a.m. at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy, followed by the park celebration at Pittman-Sullivan Park. The park celebration will include a main stage with multicultural performances, a health and wellness area, a youth area, food and merchandise vendors, and information booths.

Alamo Commutes & Emergency Ride Home

Alamo Commutes: Alamo Commutes is a free program offered through the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (AAMPO) meant to equip and empower residents in the region with the information they need to make smart, sustainable transportation choices. Alamo Commutes offers an app that can be downloaded on the Apple store or Google Play store. Residents can become Alamo Commutes members by creating a profile and recording their smart trips (i.e. walk, bike, public transit). Members earn points toward rewards for every trip recorded. With points earned, members can select from over 2,000 reward options and can participate in monthly gift card drawing. To learn more, click here: Alamo Commutes app.
Emergency Ride Home (ERH): The Emergency Ride Home (ERH) is a free reimbursement program offered to Alamo Commutes members who actively use alternative transportation and record their trips in the app. This safety net provides a sense of comfort during an emergency when you’re stuck without a ride.
