Project Update: Traffic signal interruptions anticipated

William Cannon Drive corridor project

May 1, 2026

Good afternoon,

The City of Austin and its project contractor will be performing important traffic signal improvements at the intersection of William Cannon Drive and McKinney Falls Parkway early next week.

What to Expect

Monday, May 4

  • The contractor will install new signal poles and arms over the southbound McKinney Falls Parkway and the eastbound William Cannon Drive.
  • The right turn lane on southbound McKinney Falls will be closed for waterline work.
  • There will be a brief period when the southbound left turn lane must also be closed while crews bolt the new signal arm in place

Tuesday, May 5

  • The City of Austin and the contractor will relocate the signal cabinet at McKinney Falls Parkway.
  • During this work, there will be a short dark period when the traffic signals are temporarily out of operation.
  • Austin Police Department officers will be on site to direct traffic and maintain safety at the intersection.

We appreciate your patience and caution in the area as construction progresses. We will continue to share updates as they become available.
