Community classes – Summer 2023 registration update

The City is upgrading its online registration platform for recreation classes, facility rentals, child care enrollment and related services. Residents are encouraged to sign up ahead of the upcoming summer 2023 session. Community classes include fitness, dance, sports, music, drama, art, lifelong learning and more. EQC to discuss zero emission landscape equipment ordinance April 27

The City of Menlo Park is considering an ordinance that would require all landscaping equipment used in the community to be zero-emission instead of gas-powered in a phased enforcement approach: 1) Use of gas-powered leaf blowers and string trimmers (weed whackers) will not be allowed starting July 2024. 2) Use of other gas-powered gardening equipment such as chain saws, lawnmowers and hedge trimmers would not be allowed starting January 2029. County gun buyback: Turn in a gun. Get cash. No questions.

The County of San Mateo and its partners are holding a gun buyback event May 6, 2023. The event will be held at 1050 Mission Road in South San Francisco from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants must transport firearms unloaded in a vehicle trunk or, for trucks and vans, in a locked container. Anyone who turns in a firearm can receive cash: $50 for non-functioning firearms, $100 for handguns, shotguns and rifles and $200 for assault weapons and “ghost guns” as classified by the State of California. April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month

April is nationally recognized as Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Distracted driving comes in many forms, but texting and cellphone use while driving has become the most prevalent type of distracted driving. Driving distractions is not only using your cellphone to call or text, but also includes eating, drinking and any other activity that takes your eyes off the road. Temporary Caltrain and city shuttle schedule changes

Caltrain will operate a temporary schedule starting Monday, April 17, 2023, which will last two weeks until Friday, April 28, 2023. On Monday, May 1, 2023, Caltrain service will revert to their normal weekday schedule. The temporary schedule is due to construction and single tracking. Due to construction, Baby Bullets will be suspended and there are significant changes to train schedules and train numbers.
