| Join the Menlo Park City Council Meeting April 14

Attend Menlo Park's upcoming City Council meeting Tuesday, April 14. The closed session will take place at 5:30 p.m. and the public meeting will begin at 6 p.m.

- K1. Introduce and waive the first reading of an ordinance adding Chapter 5.80 (Massage Businesses) of Title 5 (Business Licenses and Regulations) of the City of Menlo Park Municipal Code, relating to the regulation of massage businesses

City advocates for VLF funding owed by the State

On April 7, City of Menlo Park staff and City Councilmembers joined other San Mateo County leaders to advocate that critical Vehicle Licensing Fee (VLF) funding — more than $100 million annually — be released by the State to San Mateo County and its 20 cities. This funding supports public safety and emergency response, health and mental health services and housing and homelessness programs. Read more...

Planning Commission to review an update to City’s ADU Ordinance

Tonight, April 13, at 7 p.m., the Planning Commission is scheduled to review and consider a recommendation to the City Council to adopt a new ADU Ordinance, which would comprehensively replace and update Chapter 16.79 (Accessory Dwelling Units) for consistency with State ADU law and to incorporate local objective standards. Willow Road/U.S. Highway 101 landscaping project out to bid for construction

In collaboration with the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (SMCTA), the City has issued the construction documents for the Willow Road/U.S. 101 Interchange Landscaping project for bidding. The landscaping project will add about 120 more trees than existed before the interchange reconstruction on property owned by Caltrans and groundcover and mulch will be used to help reduce weeds and reduce maintenance costs. The SMCTA has set aside $3.5 million for construction. Once construction bids are received, the City will award the project later this spring. Construction is planned for the summer and will take approximately one year, followed by a three year plant establishment period. Read more...

| Affordable Housing and Inclusionary Zoning Study Virtual Meeting tonight at 6 p.m.

The City of Menlo Park is participating in a multi-city initiative to explore updates to affordable housing policies applied to new development projects. Known as a Housing Nexus Study, this initiative will evaluate the impact of new development on the need for affordable housing. In addition to Menlo Park, nine other cities and the County of San Mateo are participating in this study. Join the virtual public meeting Monday, April 13 from 6–7 p.m. via Zoom. The meeting will provide an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions and participants will also be invited to provide feedback on these policies via a follow-up online survey. | Celebrate Heat Pump Week April 11–19

Menlo Park residents are invited to join the first-ever Heat Pump Week, April 11–19, a statewide effort to highlight energy-efficient electric appliances that can heat and cool your home while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The week will feature educational events, product demonstrations and workforce trainings across the Bay Area. | Submit comments on the 1005 O'Brien Drive and 1320 Willow Road Project Draft EIR by May 18

Wednesday, April 1, the City released the Notice of Availability (NOA) and Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the proposed 1005 O’Brien Drive and 1320 Willow Road project. The release of the Draft EIR begins a 45-day comment period required by the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The City is requesting comments on the Draft EIR with the comment period starting Wednesday, April 1, and ending at 5 p.m. Monday, May 18. | Temporary pedestrian detour at Bedwell Bayfront Park entrance

The pedestrian entry access to Bedwell Bayfront Park will be modified temporarily to allow for construction work as part of the West Bay Sanitary District's Bayfront Recycled Water Project. The program is a new initiative designed to help Belle Haven renters access cleaner, safer and more efficient home appliances at no cost.
