Your time is valuable, and we aim to help by hosting free sessions where you can ask us anything, to focused topics on how to do business with the City. Through the month of May, LaunchSA is the host site for face-to-face exchanges with staff from the City of San Antonio’s Economic Development Department.

There are many facets of the Economic Development Department. One of those that is often unrealized is placemaking. Placemaking and economic development are intrinsically linked strategies that transform public spaces into vibrant, community-driven hubs to create appealing, vibrant, and unique places where people want to live, work, and play. which fosters our local economies by attracting talent, businesses, tourists and investment.  
 
Placemaking redefines our physical environment that can be enhanced by a combination of influences such as the arts and existing businesses and establishments that lend a hand in individual neighborhood distinctiveness. We invite you to learn more about placemaking initiatives and opportunities in and around our city. 

The City of San Antonio Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) offers the Legacy Business Program for local San Antonio establishments, as part of their Living Heritage Initiative. Eligible participants must have been in business for 20 years or more, and contribute to the history, culture, and authentic identity of San Antonio. Our city's culture is what makes us unique and desirable to business industries exploring opportunities or expansion. Learn more about the Legacy Business Program. 

The arts are very much a part of placemaking, and San Antonio artists have helped to shape our community which has helped to amplify our growth over the years.  

Beginning this month the city welcomes the new exhibition, Built on Legacy: Artists of San Antonio, which will run through January 15, 2027. The exhibit features 23 San Antonio–based artists, both living and deceased, and showcases paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, textiles, and installations that capture the evolution and vitality of San Antonio’s art scene over the past 50 years.

The U.S. Small Business Administration will host Boots to Business Reboot on March 3, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. at Launch SA. The day offers a two-step training program that provides participants an overview of business ownership as a career vocation, an outline and knowledge on the components of a business plan, a practical exercise in opportunity recognition, and an introduction to available public and private sector resources. Learn more.
