Frederick County Government Offices Closed for New Year’s Day 

FREDERICK, Md. –  Frederick County Government offices will be closed on Thursday, January 1 for New Year’s Day. County offices and services will return to regular hours on Friday, January 2.

Clarifications to the holiday schedule:

• Animal Control: On January 1 administrative offices will be closed, and kennels will be closed for adoptions. Animal Control Officers will be available only for animal-related emergencies. For emergency situations, call 301-600-1603 or visit FrederickCountyMD.gov/AnimalControl.

• Board of Elections: Office will be closed. For further details, visit FrederickCountyMD.gov/Elections or call 301-600-VOTE.

• Department of Social Services: Office will be closed. For further details, call 1-800-332-6347 or visit DHS.Maryland.gov.

• Division of Solid Waste and Recycling: The Reich’s Ford Road Facility, including the Transfer Station, Yard Waste and Compost Programs, Citizens Convenience Center, and Recycling Center, will be closed on January 1 with operations resuming January 2 at 7 a.m. Due to the holiday closure, recycling collection will slide one day. • Frederick County Public Libraries: Libraries will close early at 5 p.m. on December 31 and will be closed New Year’s Day. Curbside pickup and telephone reference will not be available. For further details, call 301-600-1630 or visit FCPL.org.  

• Frederick County Courts and State’s Attorney’s Office: Circuit and District Courts and the State’s Attorney’s Office will be closed.

• Transit: Transit will have significant service modifications on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Please visit FrederickCountyMD.gov/Transit to view specifics or call 301-600-2065 for more information.

• University of Maryland Extension Frederick County: Offices will be closed December 31 through January 2. Offices will reopen on January 5. For more information, please visit Extension.UMD.edu/Locations/Frederick-County.
