
Oak Knoll Flood Risk Reduction
December 2025 Construction Update
Construction is now underway for the City of Austin's Oak Knoll Flood Risk Reduction project. Crews are currently verifying the existing waterline's location along Columbia Oaks Court and will be working through the weekend in order to begin installation of the new waterline next week. Community members are advised to expect increased noise in the area.
Current Work:
- Traffic control measures being placed along construction area
- Potholing to verify waterline location along Columbia Oaks Court
Anticipated Work:
- Installation of waterline along Columbia Oaks Court
Project Background:
This project is part of Watershed Protection Department’s Capital Improvement Program. It will improve the storm drain system in part of the Oak Knoll neighborhood to reduce the risk of flooding. The construction budget is $9 million. It includes installing new storm drain pipes and inlets on several roads and easements. It also includes increasing the capacity of the detention pond on Chelsea Moor.
Reminders and Timeline:
- Construction began in fall 2025 and is anticipated to be completed by fall 2027
- Construction hours are:
- Monday – Sunday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
