COVID Rental Assistance Funds Available for Downtown Businesses
During COVID, the City of Cheyenne allocated federal funds to the Cheyenne DDA to establish the COVID Downtown Rental Assistance Program. This program provides emergency financial assistance grants to eligible business tenants within the DDA District boundary.
Although the pandemic has subsided, the DDA still has funds for eligible downtown business tenants that have experienced an uncontrollable set of circumstances that would have otherwise caused the business to close and demonstrate a true need for financial support due to the impact of COVID-19. This program is only for businesses who rented Downtown space during COVID (March 3, 2020, to October 3, 2022). Limited funds availble; first come, first serve.

The Reed Rail Corridor Project will transform an underutilized rail-adjacent area into a safe, connected, and vibrant multimodal corridor that strengthens downtown Cheyenne and benefits the entire community. By improving mobility, safety, and access while catalyzing private investment, the project supports economic growth, neighborhood connectivity, and long-term downtown vitality.
As the City considers inclusion in the 2026 6th Penny Survey, advancing this project now is critical to maximizing its return and securing Cheyenne’s future.

Share Your Input on Proposed 2026 6th Penny Projects
The City of Cheyenne is gathering public input for the 2026 6th Penny ballot. A new survey is now open for residents to review proposed City projects, learn about estimated costs, and share feedback before the list is finalized. This survey focuses on City projects only and will remain open through this Wednesday, December 17.
The 6th Penny is a voter-approved, one-cent per dollar county-wide sales tax used to fund specific capital projects. Once the authorized amount is collected, the tax ends, and local officials prepare a new slate of projects for voters to consider, next expected during the August 2026 primary election.
Take a moment to look through the proposed projects and provide your feedback.
